What made the clash special, if not among the greatest band ever was simply ...their passion. joe sang like his life depended on it and they were utterly unpredictable. they planted the seeds for ska and all the diversity we come to expect.the greatest bands ever is a list of under 15 groups, the clash get in the list easy

The Clash were a bunch of pansy picking fairy-ass hippie Socialist scumbags...and the guy kind even sing! I mean he sounds like he's choking on a gerbil evertime he opens his mouth...and don't even get me started on his little brother Tim Armstrong in Rancid...they probably got the name from Tim's tooth decay

The Clash is the greatest of all time and I don't think will ever get the recognition they really deserve, even if they are in the R&R Hall of Fame. Their music will stand the test of time, even in generations to come their music will still be relavent. Too bad there will never be a reunion, I was just a little kid when they broke up, so any chances of a reunion died when Joe did. I knew as a 4 year old when I first heard Rock the Casbah back in '82 that there was something special about them, now over 20 years later, I can fully understand and appreciate what they were about. They will always be my favorite band, no matter how old I get. And God bless Joe, he was taken far too soon. R.I.P., Joe, love ya.

The Clash still kicks asses :-) When I wake up in the early morning I need three things: A cup of coffee, The Clash and a cig. Right now I'm sitting here learning how to play the bass of Lost in the Supermarket. I love this song :-) So rock on folks! Yours, Fossy

The Clash were a gift from above. Joe Strummer is THE reason I became interested in politics. I discovered the Clash at the ripe old age of 12. This very good friend of my father's had a "record" room in his basement. There were THOUSANDS of records and cassettes. At the time, I had started skating, and one day we started talking about "punk" music during a vist. He puts on a few albums, one of which was the first Clash album. I liked it, but thought the song tempos weren't "punk-speed". He explained that punk was an outlook, not a way of dress or another fast song. He told me to LISTEN to what Joe was saying---my social outlook was very different after that day...Thank you so much, Mr. Strummer.

A review of the Clash is almost like a review of my life. I am a Rasta. I am part of a half-ass reggae band, and my first inspiration was the Clash. My second was Brother Bob Marley, and later to my delighted surprise, they were on the same page, so to speak. The Clash has influenced in more ways than one... my view of the world, my view of politics, my view of social issues, my view of life.... first and foremost were formed in my teen-age years (those most formidable) by the Clash. The true beauty was my parents' acceptance of these ideals... and then I knew I was free. Whenever I hear 'Washington Bullets', I tend to smile and tear up a bit in the eye... This band was always about principles... and justice... and most importantly, about sharing. Never a sell-out, some have called them 'the only band that matters'... could be... I just know I wouldn't be ME and happy to be without them...

For being a punk of the 90's and growing up to rancid and the new age stuff I belive the clash is one of the greatest punk bands ever. They will always be my favorite. My friends think Im an idiot for listening to the old punk music. But I belive the clash, dead kennedys and Big Audio Dynamite are the most punk bands ever. So get out of the punk of today and live what real punk is.

THE CLASH ARE THE MOST INSPIRING AND SPECIAL BAND I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. I LIVE IN THE HOPE OF A REFORMATION BUT IN THE DREAD OF IT TOO, I THINK THEY QUIT WHEN THEY SHOULDVE DONE BEFORE THEY GOT STALE. THEY WILL ALWAYS BE BRILLIANT. I LIVE IN THE AGE OF RUBBISH POP BANDS AND IM CLINGING TO THE CLASH. THEY ARE MY SALVATION, MY LOVE MY INSPIRATION. OH AND BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE ARE GOOD TOO.

the clash were one of the most talented groups of any time. They also were on of the most political bands ever, they spoke out on issues from racism to record prices being to high (they sold their double album "London Calling" as if it were a single album) and i find it sad that kids today don't even know who they are, it's pathetic what music has evolved into, everything is pre- fab singing dancing pop groups who are all put together by coporate greed. We need more bands like the clash, the who, led zeppelin, deadkennedys and so on. FRee THE WEST MEMPHIS 3

i cant belive there are no reviews here for the clash.these guys made punk great, not those wankers the sex pistols,i like them and all,but compared to the clash the pistols are pretty half assed.the ramones blow.for 77 era punk the clash is the best, joe strummer and mick jones are to punk what john lennon and paul mcartney are to rock, the best damn songwriters in the genre.every album is a gem, even sandinista, which is more daring than anything any punk group would do today.can you picture nofx or pennywise singing gospel? much less record and release it?the clash is the only band that mattered. choice tracks, just to name a few. career oppertunities police and theives londons burning white man in hammersmith palais. car jamming. lost in the supermarket jimmy jazz ,hell i could go on and on,these guys should be every punks heroes,if not,get your head checked!
