Hey, I just saw the Dixie Chicks crying on NBC Extra, tonight, over the backlash for publicly bashing our troop's Commander in Chief at a concert overseas, during war.
Poor baby!
Sure they exercised their free speech, and, well, so did we. What is unAmerican about that? They spoke for themselves, and we spoke for ourselves.
They were not merely protesting a war or excercising freedom, though. They were undermining the morale of military people. They have no idea how their words felt to the military.
If they disagree with us, why publicly cry over it, like we have wronged THEM?
They have no apolegy? Neither do we. There are those that will support them in their opinion, just like there are those that will think their appearing nude is acceptable. I don't.
Having friends that were in Viet Nam and the Gulf War and this Iraqi war, I think they are young and foolish to believe that putting down the commander during war is separate from the toops that chose and swore to obey his orders!
This is the same foolishness that degraded our Viet Nam troops and brought them back to face shame they can never live down or heal from.
You have a right to speak, Dixie Chicks, but we have the right to speak back! And we have the right to stop listening!
