But only talented people like Nsync can sing well. 2. Their new album "Awake" ripped off another artist, Dream Theater whose 1994 album "Awake" is one of the only rock albums that I can tolerate. 3. They are loud, raucous, and blasphemous. It isn't right for a band to want to "smack God" especially since they are Wiccan and Wiccans worship both a God and a Goddess. 4. Some (but not all) Godsmack fans are utterly absurd, getting tattoos of their logo (I'm not mentioning names) and following the band around (some folks I know). 5. Here's the real reason I dislike Godsmack: They haven't any chops! They can't play well or write their songs well, or even sing well! Their "music" is also loud, thrashy, and just uuuughh! I have an extremely low opinion of heavy metal in general, but this one just takes the cake. 6. I ran out and got both of the albums after I heard them play with Limp Bizkit at the pepsi arena I originally went there to see Limp Bizkit but guess what I still don't have any Limp Bizkit cd's. I just saw Sully and the guys at SPAC and they put on such a awesome show. Sully is the hottest guy I ever seen with that bod and that awesome voice. One main reason why I love GODSMACK so much is the fact that everyone of their songs fits into every feeling I have or have had at one point or another. I can't wait to get their next album. Someone with some skill would fill in quite nicely. A solo with intonation due to an autowah is not a solo. It just doesn't work. But Sully is skilled. Especially on the tribal drums, and in fact, he could probably make an album by himself. But other than Tony, I'd say the band is pretty good, and damn entertaining live. For anyone that doesn't have both of their cds, do yourself a favor and get them!! moonbaby12199 My experience at Worcester and Amherst: It all began at about 5:00 am Friday, March 2, 2001. I awoke early to prepare for the outrageous weekend ahead. I had tickets to both the Worcester and Amherst GODSMACK concerts and after show party passes for the Amherst show. I picked up my mom (she's a big fan at the ripe young age of 53!!) and we headed to Worcester. After arriving in Worcester at about 11am and checking into our hotel, we awaited the arrival of the others who were to meet for get together at Apple Bee's later that afternoon. Once the two others we were waiting for arrived, we met up and headed down towards the Centrum to scout out the buses and see if any band members were lingering. Unfortunately, we could not find the buses so we headed over to Apple Bee's with great anticipation. We were to meet the 50 or so people who came from all over the country, including Mass, North Carolina, New York, Las Vegas, California, and just about every corner of the map. We got to the get together early, but XXXMOONXXX was already there and we finally got to meet her. She did a lot of work to put this thing together and it was great that she had a journal for her and one for the band to have everyone sign and say something in. My buddy Nala and I had each made huge banners for the get together so we hung them on the windows for all to see. As people began to arrive, we met many awesome people and took lots of pictures, drank some beverages and began to feel the tension of the anticipation for the show to mount. GODSMACK was recording the Worcester show for a live DVD and they were awesome enough to even send a camera crew to our get together and tape that as well. We had to go outside because the mall does not allow cameras inside but that was kule anyway! We all gathered outside and the two ladies began video taping the 2 banners, the quilt (a combined effort of various fans that entailed a lot of hard work and sewing!) and each fan. The camera people went around to each person and had us say why we liked the band, how many times we have seen them and who our favorite members were. I kept forgetting to say stuff so I kept going back for more! At the end of the taping, a bunch of us got together and screamed "WAKE THE F*CK UP" and flipped off the camera. It was a totally awesome experience and I truly thank the band for involving us in such a way. As the crowd began to dissipate, it was getting close to 5pm and we headed back to the hotel to prepare for the show. We gathered in the lobby of the hotel debating whether to walk or take a cab, and eventually decided on a cab even though it was only a couple of blocks away. It was freezing out and we did not want to have to be cold for too long. We piled 5 people into this tiny little cab, so bad; we almost didn't make it out of the parking lot because the rear end bottomed out! When the cabby asked "where to?", he grumbled when we said "The Centrum"….I can imagine his dismay at a 5 person fare for 2 blocks!! Well, he dropped us off and the bill was small so I tipped him and we went to wait in the line that at this point (6:30pm) was already a couple blocks long. We scurried right to the front and waited in great anticipation for the doors to open. Someone finally opened the doors, but to our dismay, it was not the proper person and the hundreds of people that rushed in had to turn around and leave or no one was going to get in to see the show! Slowly but surely, everyone filed back outside, but me and my crew huddled next to the door so we could remain up front! Luckily I had a jacket on the same color as the security guards so I stood with my arms crossed at the door and no one made me move! Finally, they began searching people and letting people get in line for the floor entrance. My heart was pounding in anticipation and fear since this was the first show my mother would be on the floor with me! I had been on the floor at my 2 previous shows, she had not! As we went through the line and entered the venue, we got right up front, about 2 people away from the stage. As we wait in angst, the lights began to dim and Systematic took the stage. The guitar player looked very familiar and come to find out, he had been at the get together lurking around too! He had a SLAYER shirt on and when the camera crew at the taping asked if he was a Slayer fan, he said "…No, I am a Systematic Fan". How kule is that?? They began their set and they rocked. The singer has an incredible voice and I was really impressed with their mastery of the music. The crowd went nuts and the whole Centrum rocked. As they finished up, you could feel the anticipation growing even more as the night got closer to what we were all truly there for…GODSMACK! Next up came COLD. I thought they rocked as well. The vocals were a little too low so it was hard to hear Scooter, but the music was awesome and the performance was great. The crowd was moshing and surfing and the energy kept increasing. As STAIND took the stage, the crowd became insane. Aaron Lewis sang with all his heart and soul and really got the place jumping. It was so insane that the crowd was pushing forward and I swear I could feel my chest compressing from the compact of people. At the end of their set, I signaled security and had them literally pull my mother and I out of the pit. I was having fun but I feared for my mothers safety and I knew I could not truly enjoy GODSMACK while worrying about her and feeling like I was going to be crushed. It took all the guard's might to pull us up over the rail since the people were so close together. I almost lost a shoe and was concentrating on not knocking anyone out with my feet! As we were pulled from the crowd, the security made sure everyone was alright and we went around the side to find a seat. We found a great spot to stand in the seats not too far from the stage and calmed down while we awaited ecstasy. The lights then began to dim. The crowd began to dispense such an energy, the air was electric. The curtain opened and the animated cartoon of what goes on behind stage before the show began and the crowd went nuts! You could hear the screams and laughter of the fans as they took in the animation. As it wound down, GODSMACK took the stage in such a fierce entry, I can't even begin to describe it. A collective wave came over the audience and the entire Centrum began to vibrate from the energy of the band and the crowd. The band began to play AWAKE and again the crowd just became energized. People were moshing, body surfing, screaming and crying in awe. The new stage was phenomenal and reminded me of something right out of a fairy tale. Flames, pyrotechnics, gargoyles, lights and brimstone. I have never experienced such a natural high as I did at the moment that GODSMACK took the stage. For them to be in their home state, playing to a venue that sold out in a day, you could feel the happiness and energy emanating from their veins. The music was incredible. Every note was crisp. Sully was so vocal with the crowd, the energy level could not possibly get any higher. All of the instruments sounded excellent and the four of them played an amazing show. Throughout the show, Sully involved the crowd and pointed out the cameras and just sand and played his heart and soul out. Tommy, Tony & Robbie have never sounded and looked so good either. I have been to about 30 concerts and I have never seen a crowd and band on such a high as I did that night. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget. As the set wound down and we thought they were done, they came out for a four-song encore and the crowd just blew up. Never have I ever seen a band do an encore of more than one, maybe two songs, and here these guys did four! After that, I was completely exhausted yet refreshed at what I had just experienced. My throat was sore from screaming and my ears were ringing from the intensity. We slowly filed out of the Centrum and headed back to hotel to party. Back at the hotel, we met up with the some of the get together people and got down to partying some more. By 3:30am we were so exhausted, we headed back to our room and called it a day…one that will remain fresh on my synapses forever. Now came Sunday….off to Amherst to see the boys play their hearts out again. The biggest thrill at this point is the fact that my signifigant other, who is a not a real big fan, but a fan just the same, decided to join me at the show. The show itself….although it was not quite as insane as Worcester, the bands all rocked and GODSMACK put on another phenomenal show. My great anticipation this time was that in a few hours I would be meeting the men that had such an impact on my life. I was so excited I could taste it! I almost died when Sully blew the rear out of his pants! We watched the show and as it wound down, my heart began beating a little more rapidly. We made our way to the soundboard and waited for the security personnel to bring us upstairs to meet GODSMACK. I met TC, the security guy from the animation and he was really nice. We waited in line and then it was time. I peered around the corner and there was Tommy Stewart! I thought I was gonna die! The man is such an incredible drummer! I showed him my banner I had made and told him I wanted him to sign the sun in the middle. I shook his hand and told him I was the one who emailed them 100's of times and he recognized both my screen name and email. Robbie was next. All I can say is what an amazing bass guitarist. I have never heard anyone, nor do I think I ever will, who can play a bass the way he does. He too noticed my screen name from the bulletin board. Then there was Tony. Another amazing moment in awe. He said "Moonbaby" and I said "YES!!! THAT'S ME!" I was so excited that he "knew" me! He too is an amazing and talented artist and has the ability to speak through his guitar. Finally, the moment I had been waiting for….Sully. I was so caught up in the moment I was too nervous to even shake his hand. He has had such an impact on my life through his music and his presence, I did not even know what to say. I asked him to smile for a picture and he flipped me off! LOVE IT! That memory will forever be ingrained into my brain as well as the Worcester show. Sully is such a talented individual, I cannot put it into words. At the young age of 31/2 or 4 he began playing the drums, he sings with a spirit that grasps you inside and never lets go. He plays guitar and writes lyrics that hit home. There is not a song he has done that I cannot relate too. As the night wound down, I was on cloud nine. If there was anything I could change about the entire experience, it would be to have a few extra moments with each of them to tell them how much I appreciate their presence. I was too nervous and excited and scared and all those other emotions to properly do so at my first meeting and I just hope next time I will be more at ease! It is really hard to be at ease though when you meet the people that have so influenced your life. Dan Godsmack is good, but I liked 'em better when they were called Alice In Chains. DragonXero Godsmack is just boring, trite, overpopularized swill. You people really need to get out more. The Gathering is a much better band. I love their heavy crunching riffs...and the whole album is full of them...Absolutely the best album to come out this year...BY FAR!!!! Rachel There music is great the lyrics are good they live a few towns away from me so I see them alot at malls and I've met them a lot there very carring about their fans and appreciate everyone of them I really like how Sully ties in Wicca with it not many bands follow that godsmack wil be around for a long time!
