korn is my favorite band, i just started listening to them when i got the "take a look in the mirror" cd and i thought it was wicked,songs like "play me" "break some off" and "i'm done" really stood out to me and i think they did a really good job on that Matalica cover "one" and people down at the bottom are making raciest comments which makes me sick summim 'bout wiggers,its a dealect when white people use streat slang and it some how cause a whole lotta sh*t with all the white people for some reason, they always have to use the word NIGGER everywhere when its racist N.I.G.G.A. is'nt tho Never.Ignore.Getting.Goals.Accomplished. and hey don't disrespect my race

YO! This is the only band I've ever heard that has successfully reached perfection in both instruments and vocals. I am utterly blowen away by the fact that my search for the best sounding band ever has been achieved by these guys. There is nothing else they could do to improve themselves. Most importantly...Jonathan.. is a f****** master. His voice alone.. I wanna have sex with. He's got so much passion, rage, love, anger, hate, lust...etc...it drives me crazy. His voice can hit a spot in my soul, and I've fallen in love with it. However, I have too much pride to be some kind of a groupie (which I hate), but I know talent when I hear it. Lastly, Mr. Davis...... whatever it is that you are doing...keep doing it..because you are fine as hell. :o)

I take that back. The new Korn cd (Take a Look in the Mirror) does NOT really suck. I listened to it again, and it sounded really good. It's about time that they went back to the "Follow the Leader" sound. I was a little to harsh on the new stuff. I may get that new Korn cd after all.

KoRn are an interesting band, and anyone who has taken the time to really listen to them and take in what their songs are about would not be able to argue with that. Their first album redifined an entire genre of music and like it or not without KoRn there would be no nu metal. Life Is Peachy is really underatted as is Issues, both of these albums have some fantastic songs on them. Follow The Leader is awesome too..but its been kinda played to death so I dont listen to it too much anymore. Untouchables was pretty special too, and the thing is that although it's not redefining anything or breaking new musical ground it's only because the KoRn sound has already done that.It is without a doubt a mature and very well written album that didn't get anywhere near the recognition it deserved.
I get irritated by the fact that people lump KoRn in with the Papa Roach/Limp Bizkit's of this world and this gives people the impression that they're almost fake and aimed at kids...maybe this isn't true but I get that impression when people I know who are seriously into music diss them before they've given the music a chance.

It's fair to say that since their self titled debut realease in 1994, KORN have been the most pioneering and arguably most successful metal band for a decade now. With five albums already realeased and a sixth close to completion, the band deserves alot of credit, as very few last as long, while recieving critical and commericial acclaim, in the process.
Owning all five albums myself, I confess its difficult to believe that songs as raw as 'Clown' and 'faget' could be done by the same artist that realeased 'alone I break'. Howvever, this is not a bad thing, with each album, KORN has evolved, just as every great band before them has done (e.g.'The Beatles'),bringing new and innovative ideas to the metal scene, which desperately needed re-invention, if only to re-establish the virtues of true metal, established by bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica Pantera and even Korn themselves. As is in evidence with Metallica's latest offering 'St Anger' and Jonathan Davis's confession that Korn will return to a harder sound for their sixth album, 'True Metal' as diehard fans call it, will always remain. However to criticise a band for trying something new is insanity, Korn proved they could produce a superb metal album with their debut, their musical experiments and ultimately the birth of nu-metal is an achievement to be proud of, considering bands such as Linkin Park sold more records in 2001 (14m)then any other musical act in the world.
Having seen them live in London in 2002, I know Korn are the real deal. Davis's lyrics are decent, but his vocal range and tone is unbelievable, his angst can immediately be felt. Fieldy is arguably the greatest bassist to have ever lived using not just traditional chords but also 'banging' the strings to create a hypnotic drum sound. Head and Munky are fantastic and rarely fail to deliver first class riffs, using the seven string guitars to create high tone sounds not possible on a traditonal guitar. David Silviera is also an extremely talented drummer whose initial drumroll in the Korn classic 'Blind' will be immortalised forver in the hard rock hall of fame.
I predict another classic album from Korn, though I'm not sure they'll scale the commercial heights of 'Issues'or 'Follow the Leader', due to the fact that they're getting older and may not be as recognisible as they once were to the up and coming generation of metal heads. Howver I know that with songs like 'Blind', 'Freak on a Leash', 'Got the Life', 'Reclaim My Place' and 'Here to Stay', KORN will always have a special place in my heart.

Korn...if your a metal fan and you don't know Korn by now you've gone wrong somewhere along the lines and you should either start again or do some major revision. Korn is and has been ever since they hit the scenes around 1994(officially that is) one of the most respected and loved metal bands around. Assembling first in LA, the band consisted of Fieldy (a very talented five string bassist) Munky (seven string guitarist) Head (much the same) David Silvera (Drums) and Jon Davis (Vox). At first it was an extremely odd mix and match type of music style...kind of a very very downtuned, overly heavy (for its time) slightly hip hop influenced grunge. It was unbeleivable for 1994, no band had ever sounded anything LEAGUES from Korn's sound...and had never even thought about it. Metal heads all over the world began to know and love the band within weeks of their debut album, self-titled. It was unfortunate (but inevitable I guess) that they spawned a great many clone bands, trying for that seven string guitar sound. It's even funny to hear these days that bands are still trying to catch the sound, they even sing exactly like Davis, it's rediculous! Anyway, back to the story. Korn's 'self-titled' was a very thick sound, very bassy...deep, heavy, grungy and a lot of yelling (for those times). The CD was awesome, with not one second on one track to dissapoint. Then they released their second album 'Life is Peachy' in 1996. This album furthered Korn's success and widened their fan base. The CD went for an ever so slightly more vulgar effect, with even one entire track of swearing (K@#&). The album also went for a slightly comic feel sometimes, it just had this very loose...amateur...immature kind of feel about it. The album had very groovy bass, something the first album didn't, and took away some of the heaviness to replace it with that groovy bass and drums. But the album was outstanding. However it did not get as much radio play as the first album due to all the excess vulgarity. I don't think Korn was complaining about that though, it was a big seller. Right? Pretty much...but it could have sold a hell of a lot better if they cut out some of the swearing, still I love it the way it is! I ain't complaining! Another platinum album. Anyway, now the stage was set for their third release 'Follow the Leader'. This was a make or break situation...the album pushed the boundaries of metal to the max...it flirted with much more of a hip hop feel...a lot more electronic sound effects and things like that...and all in all it really took away from the actual instruments, the guitars were not there nearly as much as they should be in a 'metal' band. So yes, Korn released this album and many, many Korn fans all over the world began to think Korn's gig was up...they'd finally lost it, lost their cool...however, as well as losing fans they gained many, enough to make up for it, and TRUE Korn fans adored it. Personally I loved it so much that it's my favourite Korn album to date. However one of it's major flaws were all the guest rappers...I think the album could have done with a few less...it had Fred Durst (much to people's disgust), Ice Cube and Tre Hardson of The Pharcyde (he's a legend). The fact is, Jon obviously couldn't give rap a shot himself and needed other people to rap for him, and that's fine. The album was a huge success overall, I absolutely adored it. It did have it's well hated rap tracks but it had a good heavy dose of the good ol' thrashy, grungy Korn sound that everyone knew and loved. Anyway, once again that album went platinum and got even more radio play than the two before it because of it's slightly lighter guitars and not as much yelling. Then, 'Issues' came out. This album was another make or break, and unfortunately it lost even more fans than 'Follow the Leader'. But, in return, it did gain more than it's predessesor aswell. The album was softer, like 'Follow the Leader', but didn't have a trace of rap from head to toe (Korn had heard a f$*& load about putting all that rap on 'Follow the Leader') The album had major hits and a hell of a lot of radio play just like 'Follow the Leader' and was a massive success. Though it had a slightly, slightly softer feel to it than Korns first album, it also was a LOT heavier in parts, which personally I thought made up for it. I liked 'Issues' better than 'Life is Peachy'...but not quite as much as 'Follow the Leader' or 'self-titled'. Nevertheless, it BLEW me away! I absolutely loved the it to hell!! And, of course, it went some super platinum after a few weeks. 2002...Korn released their fifth masterpiece album. It was spectacular. Titled 'Untouchables', it had been largely anticipated, and by this time every Korn fan in the world had either heard or owned the single 'Here to Stay' which of course was on the album. The album used a new mixing machine, which Korn were honoured to be the first to use. The result was a relaxingly heavy, grungy, angry album. But it was really a mix of 'Life is Peachy', 'Self titled' and 'Issues'. It was a great album!!! It amazed everyone, and though a few fans were lost on it's release, more fans picked up than ever! The album was an absolute f*&#ing masterpiece from beginning to end and there was not one filler track. However, there was a lot of experimenting type tracks, and that's ok in my mind because I quite liked them. Anyway, that's all Korn has released to date, if you don't include their new single 'Did my Time' which will be on their upcoming sixth album (yeap, their still going!! Good to see!) and it should be an awesome album. 'Did my Time' is an outstanding song, I've already come to love it, but haven't yet seen the vid. Anyway, all up Korn remains as one of my favourite bands and always will be. As a whole, over everything they've done and everything they've ever released I would give them 9.5\10...and I'm usually a really hard mark. I recently(nov/29/02) saw them live at the Aragon in chicago. they had a kick ass show it was incredible. ESPECIALY MUNKY he is a kick ass guy. KoRn has changed throughout the years. For better or worse I can't say, both probably. KoRn, when they first came out, were tribal and heavy cool sounden sh:t. Now as they grew out of the shadows into mainstream they sold out. Wearing Adidas and fake crap. The music rules but that brought the image thing to a low level. They were hugely influential when they came out with Follow the Leader and with that in mind, had huge effect on how the future of music would turn out. The style they portrayed brought about another way of mainstream media's effect on the fans and fellow musicians. Good and bad. Good is the way people play and listen to music, bad being image appeal. I think the videos they produced were awesome and creative with one exception. The Issues CD was heading in a new direction, as most bands do when they decide to experiment, especially when popularity ensues. Unfortunately it was probably their worst album. It was decent but, too much of a shock and out of touch with what worked. Their latest album went completely in that direction yet, this time they went all the way and not just tried to sound experimental. With the effort they gave, it sounded very different and quite and surprisingly good. Hope that the new direction they are taking will work and sound even better through time, with of course a few of the older stuff. Nuff said.

i saw korn at the mellon arena on the 29th and they rocked! this is the 1st i've seen them since the sick and twisted tour. anyways, i won backstage passes but couldn't use them cuz i didn't have ID. i gave them to some ugly chicks though. now i'm pissed, that's a once in a lifetime chance but....you still kick ass! can't wait to see you guys again

Its better than issues for sure..but I think issues set everyone up for the solid feel of this new album. Way to go Korn...and thank you Johnathan for more music from the talented You. :)

I first heard of this Corn band from some bubblehead sixth graders in the cafeteria. Little did I know of the evil that lay behind the innocuous band name. Not only are they overplayed on the radio and squishing out all the other music groups, their music isn't all that hot. I'm not saying that it sucks, just that it is rather overrated, and the disturbing lyrical content is inappropriate for Corn's young audience. Corruption of youth is a felony and ought not to be tolerated. Teaching children bad spelling is also not good. Corn are horrid role models. That's just my two cents.

well heavy metal is actually a sound not a style. that makes them metal. theyre not rap metal either. the only cd that has a significant amount of rap on it is "leader". jon is definitely not a rapper. he is just constantly moaning and crying(annoyingly) about everything. the two good cds r peachy and korn. the riffs r definitely powerful and any a$$hole that disagrees dosnt know much about music. it actually sounds like pantera but a little slower and less thrashy. 2 bad leader and issues r just reflexions of 2days rock society. once again korn is unarguably metal.

Just because you downtune so far, the strings sag like a grandmother's cheek does not make them hard. REAL heavy metal has gutsy powerful riffs, not two weak chords repeated over and over again.
