In 1981, Jack Ponti was in a New Jersey rock band
called "The Rest" (who had a lead singer called Jon
Bon Jovi!). At the same time the Sinopoli brothers
were in a Jersey shore band called "The Imports".
Both bands had strong local followings yet somehow
their paths never crossed for some considerable
time.
Eventually Joey Sinopoli got to meet Jack, who
promptly played him some "Rest" demo tapes that
he just finished, handed over his guitar and said
"Lets see what you got"! After playing a few tunes
to Jack, it became apparent that there was mutual
respect and later that week The Rest and The
Imports were playing on the same bill.
Soon after that the two guys started writing together,
the first song they wrote was "Love Fades Away",
which can be found on this very album.
Through the passage of time both bands broke up,
and "Angry Tears" was formed. Things went wild
for a spell and the band played great shows for a
year straight before going in different directions.
Jack Ponti, of course, formed Surgin in 1985 and
released the album "When Midnight Comes",
before going on to work with such people as Alice
Cooper, Baton Rouge and Doro.
Through the passage of time Ponti has been
reunited with Joey Sinopoli and Angry Tears are
once again a working unit.
The eleven songs on this debut are the result and
they can be described as just simply great melodic
rock. On playing through the tracks it is wonderful
to hear such great melodies that are easy on the ears
and can just be thrown in the CD player and hit you
in an instant.
