To kate: they didn't "split up" they just needed to spend more time with their families. they're on the road like, 5 months of the year, not including studio time. I found that out because i wanted to make sure that they didn't break up...theyre the coolest band ever!!! just to let you know. travis said they might be making another album or going on tour again within a year or two.

Blink-182 rocks and their very talented. I dont care what people say, these bands like Blink, NFG, and Good Charlotte aren't boybands. Boybands have synthesizers, fake drumbeats and dance moves, those bands I mentioned above write their own songs and the songs are driven by INSTRUMENTS plus they dont have dance moves.

Honestly I got this feeling that this album is going to be alot better than the past couple albums. and so, it has some accoustic in some songs but its not like its accoustic through the whole album. I like those Bands too, they're awsome as well. I like a variety of punk bands and that includes Blink 182. I don't think they've changed. When i hear people say their not punk, i see them talking its because they've gottin sucessful now. Isn't that a good thing though? They're music hasn't really changed. I don't know about the new album, but before it I think its pretty much the same. But i guess thats just my opinion.

Why don't you guys listen to some real punk! Like Yellow card, Rufio, Best Interest, Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, Link 80. I went to the "Pop Disaster Tour", twice! I went to see both bands and I don't think it's fair to compare either bands. Both are incredible! And you can't argue with success! Obviously both bands (Blink 182 + Green Day) are making money for what they do! Green Day is one of the greatest punk bands to around! Billie has the ability to manipulate the crowd into doing whatever he wants! He's also a tremendous song writer and the way Billie, Mike and Tre come to together is phenomenal. Blink 182 can make the best of any situation. They're hilarious with their insane antics and playful nature they're irresistable. During Green Day's set I could see from the pit Blink watching the performance! And they seemed to enjoy the show as much as I was. I think it would be immorally wrong for either band to think that they were better than the other. My personal opinion is, I think they enjoy each and get a kick out of each other!

Well. Everything Ben said was in good spirit, and I agree with every word of it. Any and every decent person would avoid abusing bands they don't like, and getting on with listening to the bands they do like. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. It's as easy as that. It doesn't mean you have to deliberately go and abuse what music you don't like... I doubt it'll ever get through to you, but it's a shame so many people enjoy abusing these bands. Why can't you just accept they're not your taste and move on...?

It doesn't matter what genera. As far as whether blink-182 is punk or not based on clothes, talent, changing music styles, or money, what could be more shallow than to debate it? I always thought that being punk was doing what YOU want to do regardless of the majority. NON-conformity. Did it cross anybody's mind that maybe blink might actually LIKE the clothes that they wear? As far as talent goes, who cares? It sounds good. As far as changing music styles, all bands do it. Yes, even Rancid, Ramones, and the supposed gods of punk NOFX and MXPX. As far as their paychecks, these guys get $5 a day during tours and thats for food. They loose money on tours. All for the fans guys. And even when they do get large amounts of money, most of it goes to charity. Mark Hoppus even sold his very first bass to help with the 9-11 Red Cross effort. These are not bad guys. They've made mistakes, but at least they're having fun and living out their dreams. I hope that all you people, fans and haters alike, can find a dream of your own so you can stop dissing each other and squabbling over "punk or not" and "which genera is it". thanks

I am Blink 182's biggest fan! I mean I play everyone of their songs. I even have Tom Delonge's strat! I do nothing but play guitar and play his songs. I try my best to play as good as Tom. They may not be the most talented punk-rock band ever but somehow it works, they are 2nd only to Green Day as the best punk band on the planet currently, and are very funny, and produce great songs from 'The Rock Show' and 'All The Small Things' to 'Adam's Song' and 'Stay Together For The Kids'.

The problem is not that they are making millions of dollars or have attracted a noticable teeny-bopper fanbase, it's that they changed their music to accommodate the suits that they work for.

Furthermore, the band wanted to release, "Going Away to College" off Enema of the State as a video, but again, the suits made them release "Adam's Song" instead. The band accommodates the major record label because that's what you have to do to become big. It wouldn't be a problem necessarily if they didn't change their music along the way. Most people, fans and haters alike, admit that new Blink sounds very different and much more mainstream than old Blink, this is because they were forced to change the music, thereby alienating their original banbase, to make room for the 12 year old's of the world to buy their records.
That is why there are so many haters, it's not that they have money, it's that they changed the essence of who they are and forgot why they became popular in the first place. They did this in order to keep the suits happy so that they can remain a headlining band at major venues.
These points are hardly debatable but I encourage anyone to try. I used to be a fan of Blink, but when "All The Small Things" was nominated for best POP video at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, I knew that the band that I used to listen to was dead. They were punk, they are now pop, and it's a horrible thing to witness.

If you ask me, which I know you didn't, people who don't like blink's music should stop bitchin about it and just listen to stuff that they like. OK, so they have been discovered and get their music videos played on MTV and other music stations, but if they didn't, then most of their new fans wouldn't have a clue who they were. I, for one, am British (poor me) and the first blink CD we got was Dammit, which I promptly bought. Since then, I have bought Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch, Enema of the State, The Mark, Tom and Travis Show, and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket (yellow). I also have the Dammit, All the Small Things, What's My Age Again?, Man Overboard and The Rock Show singles (Adam's Song Wasn't released in the UK). So, back to my point. If you dislike blink-182 then just listen to what you want to listen to, instead of moaning about it. Personally, I think that blink-182 are a brilliant band, but feel free to mail me with your comments. Also, does anyone know a site with a good quality picture of Tom DeLonge's White Rabbit tattoo?

1. they are sellouts.
2. they have no creativity outside of their first music video- hence, the midgets got a little old

blink - 182 are an amazing PUNK band. There is more than one version of punk, there is Harder punk, pop punk, and Emo (witch is punk influenced). To call blink sell outs is fuc*in* stupid. The people who say they were once fans, but since they are now on MTV they hate them are stupid. Like a band for there music, there music is pop punk. There songs are extremely catchy, and the band does not take them selves seriously....two factors witch are extremely important (to me). Mark and Tom are not the best at there insterments in the world, but they are good enough to make great catchy music. Travis on the other hand is one of the best drummers today. His influences witch are much deeper than just punk, witch is what most punk band drummers are only primarily influenced by. He gives the band this extra edge, a 3rd dimension. He is truly one of the best all around (not just punk!) drummers that I have ever heard. I play the drums, and have listened to many different styles of music (Jazz, fusion, Latin, funk) and all of these elements are fused into one; combined with his incredible chops. All in all blink is a great band.
