Harry Chapin still drives me today. I owe him than just thanks. His voice was beautiful, his heart was beautiful. His music was beautiful.
He left us early, but really he has never gone, too those that remember and those whose lives he saved.
Harry Chapin's music saved mine 25 years ago when life was tough.
"remember when the music"??? i remember it well.

I saw Harry perform four times and was fortunate to meet him twice. One of the concerts I attended was shortly following an automobile accident in which I was involved. My wounds were visible, though not revolting. Following the show, Harry invited those that cared to stay to visit with him. When the line brought me to him, he reached out with both his hands to greet me and ask in a caring, concerned manner if I was "OK?". From what I could tell, and that which has had a hold on me for nearly 30 years, Harry was genuine from his lyrics to his soul. Let the band continue to dance.

i was unfortunate to never see harry perform live, this being because i was only 9months old when he passed away. however, that does not mean that he has not been a huge part of my life. my dad tells me that when i was little i would cry and cry until he sang taxi to me a few time. when i was little i remember listening to his records and dancing around the house singing every line of every song. harry chapin was the best artist ever, and im sorry i missed out on his life, but his memory will always remain with me and my family.

When I was younger, I remember hearing "Cats in the Cradle" redone by some rock band. I liked the song very much and would sing it constantly. When I learned it was a remake, I searched to learn who had originally preformed the song. My dad said it was by Harry Chapin. He put on the cd and played it for me. From there, I was hooked. He is one of my favorite artists. The mood he set with his soothing voice was truely magical. He truel was one of the great story tellers of all time.

I was only able to see Harry Chapin perform 11 times. His performances were in high schools, colleges, Lincoln Center, Broadway, and summer stock play houses. Each performance was different. Harry could do no wrong with his audience. The most interesting performance was at a college when he showed up all alone with his guitar. We all wanted the group to be with him. Boy were we wrong. Harry could play his guitar really well and sang for two and a half hours. I loved Harry Chapin. He left us much too early. Those of you who missed Harry's live performances truly missed a most outstanding life experience.
