EVEN*WHO?
Even*rude. The name is pronounced just like it
sounds. And the sound this alternative band makes
is called "bump"--a mix of rock, punk, and funk with a
hip-hop flavor.
Since forming in 1997, Los Angeles-based Even*rude
has been beating the West Coast for fans and a
place to sleep on their non-stop d.i.y. van-and-trailer
tours. Performing an intense, high-energy show on
every stop has made Even*rude a critic and crowd
favorite.
Their debut independent album, Superabsorbent,
released in March 1998 has sold more than 5,000
copies. The record charted on the CMJ College
Radio Top 200 shortly after it hit the streets and
continues to receive airplay on college and
commercial stations across the country.
EVEN*WHAT?
While Even*rude has played with national acts such
as Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Incubus, Hed(pe), and
Fishbone, the band will tell you that it’s the little
accomplishments that rank higher on their career
highlight reel. Sneaking into Ice Cube’s dressing
room on The Family Values Tour and drinking his
beer (Rolling Rock, no St. Ides, dog.), doing shots
with Ramstein and making fun of Tommy Lee are the
resume-builders every budding rock star needs.
(They would have made Limp Bizkit’s “Faith” video
but got wedged out of the limo by some dirty, random
chicks).
Even*X?
Even*rude has also gained recognition through the
X-Games where last Summer skater Tony Hawk
requested the band’s single “Precious One” off
Superabsorbent for his now famous “Perfect Ride”
which won the competition. This led to the national
TV debut of the song’s video during the Winter
X-Games. In July, Even*rude will play the Awards
Stage at the Summer X-Games in San Francisco
while their tune “Villified” will be featured on
Activision’s video game “Tony Hawk: Pro Skater” for
Sony Playstation. The game, which Blank Magazine
calls “the most anticipated video sports game of the
year” will include both the song and video clips.
Even*rude’s music and video are also touring the
country this Summer as part of Todd MacFarlane’s
Spawn van which makes stops at major rock tours
everywhere.
EVEN*WHERE?
Even*Rude will continue to roll across the U.S.
playng gigs, making fans and stealing beers. They’re
also working on new songs for their next
record which will be released soon in ‘99. You can
find out where to catch them and what they’re up to
at WWW.EVENRUDE.COM. Visit the site
