Singer-songwriter-guitarist Steve Mars first encountered bassist Keith Fielding at an audition for an 80s
rock cover band. Realizing that this really wasnt their scene, Joyseed was born as a local coffeehouse
acoustic act. After signing to Cross Records, the duo decided to electrify the guitars while newly recruited
drummer Greg Powell traded in his bongos for a full-fledged drum set. Drawing from diverse backgrounds
in funk, classic rock, and grunge, Joyseed creates an edgy-yet-poppy style of alternative rock n roll.
Something demonstrates the bands ability to fall into a musical category without sounding cliche. So
