CT: Jimmy could play the hell out of the guitar, don't let anyone tell you different. No, he couldn't play 875664758 notes per minute like some of those big-hair 80's shredders, but the man's playing had way more important elements such as GROOVE, MELODY, TONE, TASTE, and he had those in droves. Plus, he was a genius songwriter capable of composing music in nearly any style he felt like. Page rules, Zep rules. Forever

I've heard it said time and time again that Jimmy Page is overrated as a guitarist. I'm not a musician so I don't really know how technically gifted he is. To me, his playing on the studio recordings sounds great. But surely what distinguishes him from the rest is that he produced all of the Zeppelin studio recordings. He wasn't just a guitar player. He got the sounds right for the records. He knew how to make Bonham's drums sound right and Jonsey's bass also. He was the main composer and the producer. He knew the sound that he wanted for the group and he produced it. Just listen to Whole Lotta Love. That song was revolutionary at that time.... and I've heard nothing like it since.

Wow Guardian of the Ivory gate, you sure know your stuff. I mean People have been listening to Led Zeppelin for more than thirty years. How many people will be listening to Christina Aguilera, Pink, Yanni, and Blink 182 in twenty years time?
As for Led Zeppelin, they are one of my favorite bands. But Jimmy Page is definately an overrated guitarist. As a guitarist, I must say he is extremely sloppy. A prime example of this is in the "Heartbreaker" solo. That's not saying he is a hack, but just he's not as great as people make him out to be.
Robert Plant isn't that talented of a vocallist, but his raspy "white boy" blues voice blends well with the type of music that they were making. The only downside of Plant is when he tries to copy the sounds of the guitar. A prime example is in "Dazed and Confused."
John Bohnam is definately one of the greatest drummers of all time. A hard hitter, with a dead-on accurate touch. As Peter Grant stated "He can do more with one hand than most people can do with all four limbs." The drumming of Bohnam is without a doubt the trademark sound of Led Zep.
John Paul Jones has to be the most talented individual in Led Zep. His finesse and anonymity attribute to his skill with his instruments. With the knowledge of numerous instruments; Mandolin, Bass (guitar and stand up), guitar, Keyboard, and others, he managed to revolutionize Led Zep beyond any. Maybe it's my opinion, but J P J, is definitly the most talented of all the band.

Led Zeppelin is with no doubt the greatest rosck band of all time. Black Sabbath is the only band that even comes close. and what about pink floyd not being on the top 100. David Gilmore had was in the top 25 3 time on the top 100 guitar solos

I a youngen, but I love Led Zeppelin. There music has so much meaning to it. Some people just don't understand it and I don't know why. Each one of them had a gift for music,any style. I don't know any alternitive - new wave band that can play 12 bar blues or play an extreme rythym section or sing a song with range. Although I do not particularly like all of Led Zeppelin's music, I must admit I respect all of them a lot. They are definitely great musicians and were original. It is My opinion that Zep is better than the Beatles, in style and talent.

Just bought the BBC sessions and I have to say after years of listening to the studio sound this is a welcome change. They are so raw and uninhibited. Jimmy is just unbelievable. The whole album just makes me have goose bumps. The live sound of Zep has pushed them back up to one of my most listened to bands. I have had this CD in my car for over 2 weeks now and I never get tired of listening to 2 songs in particular: Going to California and That's the way. Just mind blowing! They are the kings I think more people should worship them :)

It don't matter how many albums these homos sell, they suck and will always suck. Lead Zepellin are a bunch of grandpas that play bad guitar and whine inane lyrics. They belong in a nursing home. Robert "Original Vanilla Ice" Plant doesn't even look good like Justin Timberlake anymore, he looks like the homeless in the train station. Even my friend, who's a real musician, says they suck. Besides, their songs like "Stairway to heaven" don't even sound like rock, they sound like crappy hill billy country mixed with crappy Jamaican music. The only reason they got popular is because people used acid in the 60s and hallucinated that they were a good band.
