u guys saying that megadeth never sold out make me laugh! what about risk, the world needs a hero and rude awakening? open ur eyes man! megadeth and metallica's riffs both kick ass and both rock and neither have made a bad song. i have seen both live and they are both awesome. but, when it comes to the crunch it'll always b metallica simply because of their greatness and how many brilliant songs they have written and how they make me feel whilst listening to their music. metallica and megadeth are still the best out there today whom no-one in metal can better. however, i think if dave mustaine hadn't whined so much about getting kicked out of metallica and how good megadeth actually ARE (therefore just paying attention to his own band instead of comparing to metallica and bitching and even more comparing and whining) then i think that megadeth would be even bigger today than they are already and maybe the whole metal world would give them more respect. as regards to kirk, would you guys stop putting him down. kirk is great and he is the reason why you guys love metallica - for the solos and fast riffs. in terms of sheer skill, marty probably does outshade him, but in terms of songwriting and getting the song to fit the solo, kirk is definately the master. with regards to slayer, they can play their instruments, but the can't write a song to save their lives, the lyrics are godawful and laughable and the singer's voice is not in rhythm half the time and is just not good. full stop.

Megadeth is a great band, and so is Metallica. As a fan of great metal I'm thankfull for everything they have done for us fans; but one thing is certain: the BEST SPEED METAL BAND isn't Megadeth, neather Metallica. That band is SLAYER, because NOBODY plays as fast as they do!

Anyone who plays a guitar would know a good guitar solo.I listen to both metallica and MEGADETH. Metallica is good enough! Megadeth is more dominate in both song lyrics and definantly with their guitar!!!

All these people that think if Mustaine would have stayed in Metallica, thay may have not "sold out" are probably wrong. Keep in mind that Megadeth's path in music runs almost parallel to Metallica's. Both of their second albums are considered genre defining classics. When Metallica released the Black Album to gain radio airplay, Megadeth did the same with Countdown to Extinction. After that they each became less and less thrash, although Metallica took a more "southern rock" approach. This is very sufficient evidence that Metallica's musical career would have been extremely close to what it is now if Mustaine had remained in the band.

Metallica has always been better than Megadeth. Oh and to the dumbass who keep saying dave mustaine wrote all of kill em all, mustaine HELPED write 4 out of 10 songs. Do the math and that is 40% of the album and lets see there is still a whole 60%? Intresting?

I think the best AND worst thing that happened to Megadeth was Dave Mustaine's singing. Yeah, it's pretty bad, but would anybody have it any other way? For some reason, I just can't picture any other vocalist for Megadeth. They just wouldn't have that uniqueness to them that Dave's singing bring's. It's the same with Iced Earth's debut, Gene Adam was an awful singer, but somehow it fits the songs.

Dave Mustaine wrote most of the music for Metallica's first album, which is the most likly reason that it is the Metallica album with the worst sales(3 million). And now look at Metallica now, every album they put out now smashes that. Megadeth's last platinum album was Youthanasia in 1994. Megadeth is a has been band that should stop humiliating themselves with bad music and crappy sales.

For all of those metallica lovers out there... you can go screw yourselves. MegaDeth was and always will be the best speed metal band of all time. Every MegaDeth fan knows (and every Metallica fan choses to forget) that Dave Mustaine wrote most of the music for Metallica's first album, which is the most likly reason that it did so well. Agrees with T-Dick, why is it always the eternal debate which is better?
Remember that MegaDeth's main man Mustaine used to be IN Metallica before MegaDeth, looking at it objectively, MegaDeth are better simply because they're almost as sucessful as Metallica, but they've been around less time.
They're really different genres, too, MegaDeth simlply would not release a song like Memory Remains or any other slower Metallica songs, Dave Mustaine has energy and power that shows through the music, whereas Metallica simply make well constructed pieces.

I’m sick to death of hearing about how great Metallica is compared to Megadeth. Everyone knows that Metallica rose to prominence on Mustaine’s riffs—then Metallica turned to utter garbage as soon as they ran out of Mustaine riffs. New Megadeth comes closest to old Metallica. Too bad that the twain never shall meet, because they do need each other...Mustaine needs a stable line-up and Hetfield needs a horse-whipping...
