I'm proud to say that I own all the albums from there glory days, from KILL THEM ALL , to the black ablum. But for me, that black album was the last album that metallica sounded like metallica. St Anger as to be the biggest disapointment of all. Metallica going back there roots? I don't think so. I'm sorry but eversence metallica cut there hair, they've also cut off there balls. I think these guys rock, so much fricken musical talent. Talent that bands like Good Charlotte(alright band but not much musical talent), blink 182(great band, easy songs), or pretty any band except maybe tool, could even compare to in talent. They will forever be awesome, no matter what kind of CDs they release. I think the people that say Metallica sucks, know nothin of the true value of music. So go listen to stuff thats not worthy of being called music, like Rap!

St. Anger could have been alot better. Now that they have Rob the next album should be better. They should also put a muzzle on kirk. He contributed some of the most lame lyrics to St. Anger. Metallica works best like this: James and Lars writing the songs, Kirk playing the solos and Bob Rock recording. Also if Lars focused more on Metallica instead of being a greedy bastard it would be great.

as the 4 horsemen, fade 2 black, battery,one, and
Sandman.the next couple of albums are alright (above average metal albums).

To be honest they cant go on making albums like " ride the lightning" and classics like that. youd get sick of them sooner of later! believe me you dont want them to keep making music like that! 1) youd get sick of it 2) they would run out of ideas. What they could be doing is changing direction in the path of music, and inspiring as many fans as possible! Look at load and reload theyre direction changed there, and when they came out people had doubts about that! and now look at St anger! people are having doubts about that as well! but in a few years, just like load and reload people will respect what theyve done, and start to appreciate it! just like ive managed to do!

I consider myself a great Metallica fan, and I respect what they´ve done in the past few years, but I wouldn´t be a true fan if I didn´t say the old songs are way better than the ones today. I think St. Anger is a good effort, but it doesn´t show the great band Metallica once was. Anyway, I´m really looking forward to seeing them live here in Santiago, Chile...and I can already sign an official document stating that it´s gonna be FU{K*N´GREAT!!

Although I don't agree with their anti downloading feelings(cd's cost way to much) It is hard to find a band as talented as metallica. Whiskey in the Jar may be a remake of an old song but it is the best Metallica song ever. I haven't heard St. Anger except for the song St. Anger. It was an average song to me. Hetfield does say "ooooohhhh" after the second slow part in St. Anger, but I(and probably all of us) know what you mean Mid Life Crisis Metal. The more I listen to St. Anger, the less I like it. The only songs I can listen to more than once a day are Frantic and Sweet Amber(even that is partially ruined by repeating the exact same verses twice when they could have been different). The sad thing is, this is exactly the way they wanted it to sound, underproduced and underdeveloped, like they were a garage band just playing some sh!t off the top of there heads. That's exactly what it is. They came up with about thirty songs in the past year when they probably could have worked on 8-12 and perfected them. Thats the main reason I like the first four albums so much; htey have only 8-10 song on each of them, but each song is a brilliant work of art. maybe they just had too much going through their heads on later albums and thought it should all go down on paper. My piont is that if Metallica could have perfected about half the song on Load, half the songs on Reload, subtract the Southern Rock out of them, then they could probably have had another masterpiece. Also, I think they should have Included at least No Leaf Clover and possibly -Human on this record, but thats just my opinion.

I remember getting excited about St. Anger because I heard it was going to be just like the earlier albums. However this is in no way true. I play guitar and I learned to play the songs in a week. This album is a wannabe NU METal KoRn Or slipknot and I have noticed not a song on this cd has a single verse in it, it's all just a bunch of choruses slammed together. I challenge any of you to listen to this cd and find ONE THING AND I MEAN ONE THING THAT JAMES HETFIELD SAYS ONCE ON ST.ANGER.

I have been a big metallica fan for a long time. This album is really good and heavy. I don't mind that there is no solos it is the cussing that lowers my review. It takes awhile to get used to, but i love it now. The other thing is that the lyrics could have been more deep but it is all good. God Bless Everyone!!!

I've read a lot of reviews saying that James' vocals suck on St. Anger. What about the vocals on Kill em All? Why do so many people act like the first four Metallica Albums are perfect? They aren't! A couple of things that could have made St. Anger more interesting would be better lyrics on some songs( instead of repeating the same ones over and over) and, of course, some of that good ol' lead guitar work from Kirk. The rhythm is great and the drums aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Not a bad effort at all, it's just not what I think it could have been,just a little more work, it probably would have been as classic as Puppets.

As a drummer i can honestly say the drums sound like ass on And Justice For All. There i said it! The drums on St anger are alot more natural sounding which i like. I will admit the snare has to much ring on some songs though. Over all i do like the album but i wish there was a solo or eleven. Eh not my decision though

Hey, You know I am a huge Metallica fan, I think they were the most amazing band on earth for a number of years. Their music form Kill'em all,RTL,MOP,JFA was musicaly amazing.
St.Anger, well to start doesn't have one guitar solo. It is the same boring crap that they brought about with Load and Reload, except they added some stuff they copied form the NuMetal movement.
If this is the Metallica of the future, it is time to start looking for new bands that still are about the music.(metal)

You guys don't know anything about mixing or music, as an engineer i can say that. People are so conditioned to lame mutt lang sounding snares. So what if it sounds "pingee" that's how the snare sounds, they didn't mess with it, so you should respect it. I liked the album, but after 3 listens i love it, it will grow on you, most of the great albums are different and they take a while to get used to. this album might not be considered one of the greatest,however the old school fans will love it.

I think it would be cool if Metallica re-recorded there first 4 albums from scratch, with Rob. If i were them, I'd have James and Kirk both do rhythm with updated tone to give the sound an new dimension. They could also switch off on some solos like Slayer where each guy has his own speaker. With Lars, I would definitely add more complexity to the first 3 albums, and more double bass. I wouldn't use the new snare sound though, but the older, thicker one. With Rob, I would probably NOT redo Anesthesia, just because it would really upset a LOT of Cliff fans. I would also turn the bass up a little, especially on the Justice tracks. Though many would disagree on this point, they should write string sections like S&M on some songs that would be improved with the added sound, like the "ballads" and instrumentals. Maybe Bellz and the S&M intro to Battery, among a few others. If they did this and released it in a box set in the $35-40 range with new artwork, I would definetly buy it. Just thought I'd suggest it, but they probably would never go for the orchestra stuff.

I personally don't think Metallica sold out, but all the southern rock in load and reload is irritating. St. Anger is an ok song, but they just repeated a long chorus 3X with no "verses" that is about the only major "complaint" i have with the song. I do think Kirk should have soloed, and the riffs were fast, but not memorable, and the snare sounded wierd, but overall the song was cool. I think their best album was AJFA because the songs were long, complex, brutal, and the solos and drums were at their best as well. James' vocals and lyrics were very awesome and agressive, and they were lower "tuned" than on any other release. I personally don't really care about the production or lack of bass, because the rest makes up for it! Oh, and whos the retard who thinks So What and Free Speech are Metallica originals. Were you born in an Indian rainforest and raised by anteaters!??!?!?!

In the early days it was all about the fans. It ended with the almighty dollar. Although I don't listen to Metallica as much as I use to, I will always be a big fan. They are the ones that got me started on playing guitar. After listening to Ride the Lightning and And Justice of All, I grew on this band(or vice-versa). One is my personal favorite song but I love them all. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed w/ load and reload but I don't think that they are sellouts. Maybe their feelings changed about alot of things and if they stayed an aggressive bands when they didn't feel that way anymore just to please their fans that would make them fake.
