| Biography |
The
Muffs are a spontaneous and aggressive rock band. Kim's vocal style has
a unique blend of innocence and anger with a sometimes punk bite to it.There
simple and melodic riffs and tight rhythm blend to make up one the best
bands L.A. and America have seen in a long time. There songs are very catchy
and have great 60's rock inspired hooks.
The Muffs were found as a four piece in 1991 in Los Angeles California.
They had a great live reputation and some great songs that got them signed
with Warner Brothers to release there debut self titled Album in 1993.
There first album featured Criss Crass on drums and Melanie Vemmen playing
rhythm guitar. In 1995 The Muffs released there second album intitled "Blonder
and Blonder" featuring Roy McDonald on drums. The Muffs became a trio on
this album without sacrificing any of there sound or stage presence. That
year they also got first slot of the clueless soundtrack with Kim Wilde's
"Kids in America". They also appeared in the Clueless television show's
debut episode. There latest effort entitled Happy Birthday to me is by
far there best album to date. The sound on this album is very redefined
from the bigger guitar sound to the overall mix of all the instruments.
Songs like "Crush Me", "That Awful Man", and "Outerspace" prove that the
Muffs are on an uphill journey. This album was self produced, and that's
probably why it sounds so great! If you have never heard the Muffs before
do your self a favor and buy there latest album, it is a must for every
good rock collection.
