Phamous Phaces arrived on the original music scene
in 1993 and began playing shows around the
Northwest. In August 1994 the band began work on
their debut album entitled Worlds Apart which was
released in April of 1995. Two songs off of this album
also earned the right for the band to participate in the
1995 Ticketmaster Music Showcase as one of185
bands chosen nationwide out of over 10,000 entries.
With the success of Worlds Apart and regional radio
airplay the band began sharing the stage with
numerous international acts. While on tour with
Starship, guitarist Jeff Tamelier (currently of Tower of
Power) befriended Phamous Phaces and eventually
co-produced their second album, Suite 420, which
was released on April 20, 1997 on Bink Records.
One month later Phamous Phaces found themselves
flying at 30,000 feet en route to Denmark to begin a
European tour.
Currently on the internet, Phamous Phaces has been
listed as one of the best unsigned bands of 1997 and
is featured on a website dedicated only to pop music
called Shake It Up! which did a review of Suite 420,
as well as The World Stage, a website promoting
unsigned bands.
The band has a wide variety of influences ranging
from the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick and
Aerosmith, but has carved out their own distinctive
sound. The sound of the band has been compared
with the Beatles and while no one will ever top the
Fab Four, Phamous Phaces evokes the same
emotional connection through their music.
The band is Jesse Ruggles and Roger McConnell on
guitars and vocals. The rhythm section (formerly of
Meredith Brooks) consists of Ron Petty on drums and
Mike Trathen on bass and vocals.
The future holds no limits for the band as there has
been label interest both in the USA and in Europe,
where a distribution deal is currently being
negotiated. A recording contract is surely the next
step in the Phamous Phaces phenomenon!!
