With the number of Swedish metal bands around these days, it is rare to find such a unique gem as Andromeda. The band is like a complex galaxy revolving around the epicenter of the young Swedish guitar whiz Johan Reinholdz. Complex and multi-faceted, Andromeda runs the gamut from full-throttle metal to mellow, introspective moments, all with the accompaniment of breath-taking keyboards, "out of this world" guitar work and a rock solid rhythm section. It was this originality that immediately appealed to War Music in Sweden, who signed the band in 1999. War Music was able to get Andromeda founder Reinholdz in touch with ex-Darkane singer Lawrence Mackrory just in time for the band to enter Studio Dug Out with famed producer Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Stuck Mojo, Darkane, Strapping Young Lad). Although the vocals were a stretch from the aggressiveness of Darkane, Mackrory was able to rise to the challenge perfectly. The album, Extension Of The Wish, turned out so beautifully that now Century Media Records has chosen this release as the second (behind Darkane's Insanity) of an exclusive licensing agreement with War Music for North America. One listen to this fascinating new band and the listener will recognize the same talent that convinced both War Music and Century Media that Andromeda is one of the new Swedish metal acts that needs to be heard.
