Orgy  - "Punk*Statik*Paranoia*
By Linda Spielman

Orgy - "Punk*Statik*Paranoia*
Label: D1 Music
Rating:

This CD is yet another stellar release from the band that brilliantly combines electronic grooves and no holds bar alternative rock.

You can lump Orgy in with the Korn's of the world, but their style is very appealing because it is so different. This CD is no exception. The cutting lyrics on tracks like "Inside My Head" and "Leave Me Out" incorporate soul searching in a very misleading and untrusting world of today.

Over the years the band has raised the bar on pushing elements of electronica with brain crushing guitars & drums, along with strong melodies. The equation has served the group well thus far. The intensity on this album doesn't loose momentum between tracks.

"Obvious" is a prime example of the killer equation at work. The underlying melody enforced with lyrics of growing up, older and wiser about life as a whole. The guitar line combined with the electronica add another intriguing layer to the song. Orgy has by far perfected the art of layering sounds, melodic textures to songs, which I have yet to hear anyone successfully achieve the same level of experience and savvy.

Definite 3 1/2 stars

This album was a different side of Orgy I thought, much more alternative than their old stuff. It's definitely still an Orgy CD, they didn't sell out like most bands are doing now, I like that. They had more freedom to do what they wanted on this CD with Jay Gordon having his own record label now, they took advantage of that and it's just as good, if not better that the other two. I can't wait for a 4th CD.

Posted by katanatimw:
"Punk Statik Paranoia" is definitely Orgy's best album to date and one of the best CD's I've bought in a long time.

Posted by sally:
goddammit, they dont have the album here in msia. argh

Posted by lola:
I agree, I can't get enough of all 3 cds combined! Orgy is amazing. Nothing less than brilliant!

Posted by Chaote:
I agree that candyass was definately their album, although punk statik paranoia is a decent album. If you don't have candyass I'd get that one first.

Posted by random guy who will never see this site again:
i think that candyass was the best, they were more experimental and stuck to a style in that one. In CA every song was amaing and could've been a single. In VT everyother song was amazing. This album was a bit less then VT but there my fav band so i still give them enormous respect

Posted by Matt:
Despite being short, it's a good album, overall. My favorite has to be Make Up Your Mind.

Posted by Prince Marc:
this album is amazing, orgy is the best

Posted by Teresa:
this album...rocks...i love orgy..hehe

Posted by Kristina:
Orgy never ceases to amaze me... this CD is as incredible as the others.

Posted by BrainDeadCyrcle:
I totally love this CD. It combines their awesome sound, with more serious lyrics that really mean something to me. I just love the song "pure." It's an amazing disc and I can't wait to see them in concert, because I can say from past experience that they put on a K.A. show

Posted by Wagg:
Listen to the album a couple times first. I didn't really appreciate until then. 9 songs is a little short but it is still a great disc.

Posted by blackfox/sly death:
Orgy is the best, my personal favirote has to be vague.

Posted by 311fan:
It's great that Orgy's put out another k.a. CD - thank god they made it. I ruined my first copies of Vapor Transmission and Candyass b/c I listened to them so much.

Posted by Fire desi9n:
This cd is good and bad at the same time but you cant deny songs like ''beautiful disgrace'', ''make up your mind''(personal fav), ''leave me out'' and ''inside my head''. I admit 9 tracks was a bummer and i was expecting more but for 9 tracks its still good.I think this new approach will build a much more fan base...new style is catchy and whoever wants to hear something new aside from trendy white washed emo bands then i recommend u check this out.Candyass is a classic and Vapor Transmission is a classic. This album i would say is a....teaser.U decide for urself.Forget what we write and u judge.

Posted by Neofire.net:
This is nowhere near as good as their earlier works, but the CD is still pretty good for Orgy. It's just too short and some of the songs run together. I wonder how they come across live....

Posted by ohno:
You may like or hate them that's your choice but Amir Derakh(the guitar player) is one real virtuoso in his field of electronic guitar playing.Loads of superstars actually consult him when making music.Awesome guitar player & musician.

Posted by TheRuiner:
Right. I take back what I said. I listened to PSP while AWAKE. Well, it's still not on par with Vapor Transmission/Candyass, but heck, it's listenable enough. Nine songs. Four years? Nine Songs? What's going on here people.

Posted by FallenAngel27:
I loved Candyass and Vapor Transmition! This one is a good CD as well, but I tend to like the other two better.= ) Orgy Rocks!

Posted by Joe Mama:
It's a good disc, but nine songs? Come on!!!

Posted by redstarpumpkin:
I love this album!!! I liked V.T.; but i think it was just too soon. I play this one in my car ALL the time! I LOVE IT!

Posted by TheRuiner:
This album isn't as good as Vapor Tranmission or Candyass. Frankly, I fell asleep while listening to it. However, they're one of my favourite bands so I'll just humour them for a while. :/

Posted by BlackStar:
Hi,I LOVE Orgy because their music can generate something of particular in my soul(exuseme but I don't know very well english,I'm italian!)

Posted by Shady_Lane:
Yeah it has been awhile since they put out an cd but i think it's a damn good one and i bet they worked really hard on it and i think they should be treated alittle better with a hell of alot more respect espically from thier FANS!!!!

Posted by MSIorDIE:
i LOVE this cd. true, it's not as good a vapor transmission, but to me that's only because it's too damned short! 9 tracks? seriously guys, if you're gonna keep me waiting this long for a new cd, at least have the decency to write more songs! and Hobo, wtf are you talking about? the only homo-erotic behavior during that tour came from rammstein.

Posted by ademachild:
yeah i think orgy is a really good band and they do deserve some respect the only thing is i think they need 2 put out some more music

Posted by sans commentaire:
Orgy:the music off of the first two albs rocks, even though the group can almost be seen as commercial, and I'm not a big fan of the make up lol, but never mind that. The new album is quite ok, but lost the cuttin edge off of vapor transmission, which I especially enjoyed :)Still the alb is a steady ok cd, better than most comparable groups, and the lyrics are way ahead of other comparable artists in the genre(if u can call it that, more likely a blend). All in all its not an extreme disappointment, sorta more depressive than the predecessor. It's like a 7/10 or smth...but hey its Orgy! Gotta love it! But if ur lookin for smth really cool check out Kidney Thieves, great stuff!

Posted by drowning pool fan:
drowning pool is way tha phuck better than your favorite band.

Posted by Keavin:
yeah right. It's Linda writing under her own name. What do you want me to call you?

Posted by SOURCHUX:
Keavin is that you writing under the pen name Linda Spielman? That's pretty funny. Call me babe. I miss You.

Posted by Soul Crusher:
Come on now - the new one is a good album. It's good to see Orgy moving incorporating their unique style with more aggressive vocals and guitars. Heck, it beats the hell out of what your local Top 40 or "modern rock" station is probably playing right now.

Posted by Aggroculture:
The first two Orgy albums were good. The new one blows. Sad but true.

Posted by Hobo:
After that homo-pash back on the 98 Family Values Tour, I think Orgy are pushing it as it is.

Posted by mushroomhead:
orgy is definitely one fot the hardestworking bands out there today and they deserve more respect
