Dailey & Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers
When a beloved musical group decides it's time to retire, that doesn't mean their music becomes a thing of the past. Just ask Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, who, as the award-winning duo Dailey & Vincent, have recorded a new CD containing 12 of the legendary Statler Brothers' most-loved songs.

This album, Dailey & Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers, features exciting and authentic bluegrass interpretations of songs from the Statlers' repertoire and will be available exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Storeฎ on February 1st.

Dailey & Vincent are uniquely qualified for this project. As the reigning International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainers of the Year, they have previously recorded their versions of some Statler songs and include a few in their live show. In 2008, they performed at the medallion ceremony marking the Statlers' official induction into the Country Music Hall of Fameฎ. Dailey & Vincent's self-titled debut on Rounder Records included their version of the Statlers' hit "More Than a Name on a Wall," which topped the Sirius bluegrass chart in 2008. Their Brothers From Different Mothers CD included "Years Ago" and "There is You" from the Statlers' catalog, along with a special guest appearance by Statler Harold Reid in his alter ego of Lester "Roadhog" Moran on "Head Hung Down," which spent two months at #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited song chart. - more on this story

Das Racist Keeping Busy
Them boys are up to something again! This past month Das Racist organized the New York Times-approved MinorityFest in their hometown of Brooklyn. The night consisted of a panel discussion on race moderated by Das Racist, comedy sets from six up-and-coming comedians including Ali Wong and Kumail Nanjiani, and performances by the boys themselves amongst others. Earfarm.com called the night "a good time - and different. Think college dorm party meets intellectual salon."

Fresh off the heels of that project Das Racist is putting the immigrant work ethic they've inherited to good use and pressing onward with a busy winter. This past week they premiered their video for "Rainbow in the Dark," directed by frequent collaborator Jordan Fish. They also recently launched their website, http://www.dasracist.net, which was designed by Fish.

As if that wasn't enough, the boys will be playing shows across New York and they will make their way to their alma mater Wesleyan University for a February 12 date. Come March, you can see them at SXSW and by then they'll have even more tunes for you to rock to on the train with their Shut Up, Dude Mixtape set to release prior to then - more on this story

Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime (AKA Dudley Perkins) Endure
Looking to start 2010 off with a bang, Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime (AKA Dudley Perkins) are dropping the track "Endure" from their upcoming joint album SomeOthaShip along with the fresh "Endure" EthNick Remix courtesy of beat maestro Nick Tha 1Da.

"Endure" is a song of contrasts - contemplative yet free-spirited, dark yet uplifting - and it gives listeners an all-access pass into the minds of Georgia & Declaime. The track, which also features the lyrical stylings of M.E.D. and Rapper Big Pooh, seems fit for the times as it urges listeners to "endure the storm" and to "remember that the bad times have only made you stronger." The positive vibes are inspired in part by Georgia who says that the lyrics help pull her out of the past "and into a new and improved being that is ready to act in the liberation of [her] people through music." As the lyrics end, the song endures for a full minute in a meditative instrumental state giving the listener a moment to pause and reflect upon the track's central theme which, according to Georgia, is to "endure" and not to "give up on yourself, or your potential to be greater than you've chosen not to be."

The "Endure" EthNick Remix by Nick Tha 1Da retains all of the potency of the original and also injects an infectious beat backbone into the mix. "Endure" has been requested to be remixed by numerous producers and, after having been reworked by Oh No, Oddisee, and Apollo Brown, Nick Tha 1Da seemed like a logical choice to pass the remix torch to. Hailing from Washington D.C., Nick Tha 1Da is no stranger to the game, having produced for the likes of Finale and Raheem DeVaughn, and his presence on the track is a game changer of melodious proportions. Neck-snapper curator, beat engineer - Nick Tha 1Da does "Endure" proud as he brings East Coast stylings to his bass heavy remix, and complements the positive vibes of the song by using a selection of strings guaranteed to put a smile on the face of the strictest non-believer. SomeOthaShip, a Mello Music Group release, will be available digitally February 16th and will be hitting physical retail locations February 23rd. - Check out the remix here

Magnum K.I. Planning To Hit The Road
Ask any musical collective; healthy collaboration is the backbone of success. And while Magnum K.I.'s new self-titled full length might be a debut, there's a weighty and palpable sense of maturity within each of the ten island-infused and rhythm heavy hip-hop tracks. You've got to give credit to the dynamic method that DJ/Producer, Michael Arnone (aka DJ Kutdown), lead-vocalist/song-writer Ismaila Alfa and co-producer/song-writer Rob Crooks took to attain the dense and transcendental sound on their debut. Taking an organic approach, each member brought musical ideas to the table. Yet no track was ever considered finished until they'd all put their own fingerprints on it and the results speak for themselves.

Combining the relaxed yet potent vibes of early Jurassic 5 with the sensibility that only a city like Winnipeg can provide, the three members of Magnum K.I. are truly onto something here. Rising from the ashes of seminal hip-hop outfit Frek Sho, they've spent enough time honing their craft to know what it takes to play the hip-hop game with poise, energy and tracks that will drag even the shyest wallflowers onto the dance-floor.

With showcases at CMW, SXSW, NXNE and Pop Montreal 2010 lined up, there seems to be little that can get in the way of this trio. They'll be hitting stages across the country from January to March of 2010. It's about time too; Magnum K.I. have worked hard enough to know what it takes to make a hip-hop outfit work. Now, it's time for the rest of the world to see what they're onto.

See them live in Winnipeg February 10th at The Pyramid opening for Raekwon of Wu Tang. More tour dates to follow.

Mello Music Group Gear Up For 2010 Releases from Finale, Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime and more
Coming off of a string of successful 2009 releases, including Diamond District's In The Ruff, Mello Music Group is proud to announce its lineup for 2010. The year promises to be productive as the label plans to release high profile projects from acclaimed artists Finale, Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime, Ken Starr, Oddisee, Trek Life, and others.

Mello Music Group (MMG) has been making great strides since first dropping an album by Oddisee in 2008, and 2010 promises to be a breakout year for the young label. Founded in 2007 by former mixtape DJ Michael Tolle, MMG is looking to bring hip-hop back to its base elements in the new year by complementing their releases with the work of a roster of renowned graphic and graffiti artists including Mear One, Gene Pendon, Tokio, and Josh Beyer. The label plans on further advocating its hip-hop philosophy by teaming up with A-list online outlets and giving away an emcee-selected pair of Nike Dunks every month to one lucky fan. Each winner will also be entered into a final drawing at the end of year to win a pair of custom painted kicks courtesy of MMG graf artists.

Leading MMG's musical charge will be Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime who are looking to keep themselves busy in 2010 as they prep the release of SomeOthaShip, their first joint album since 2007's Message Uni Versa (Look Records) out digitally on February 16th and available physically on February 23rd. The full length will be preceded by the vinyl-only EP Heaven or Hell, on 1/11. Georgia will also be taking some time to stop and smell the soul as she readies instrumental funk (Jyoti) and jazz (Turiya's Smile) projects, while Dudley assures fans that a solo project is in the works. - more on this story
