Snoop Dogg Busted By Drug Dog
(TMZ) Snoop Dogg isn't the only canine with a nose for weed ... TMZ has learned the rapper was ARRESTED in Texas this weekend after a drug-sniffing dog uncovered marijuana on his tour bus.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... Snoop's tour bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca -- a small town in West Texas where Willie Nelson was popped for weed back in 2010.

We're told the border patrol ran a standard inspection of the bus with the dog ... when the animal alerted the agents to a possible hit in a waste basket in the back of the vehicle.

The agents claim they found a red prescription bottle with several joints inside. We're told the bottle contained under a half-ounce of weed.

Cops say Snoop admitted the dope belonged to him. Snoop has a prescription for cannabis in California, but law enforcement tells us there is a zero tolerance policy for weed in Texas ... regardless of his status in other states.

Snoop was issued a citation for misdemeanor drug possession and released.

Attempts to reach Snoop's rep were unsuccessful. more on this story

Conrad Murray Fighting Restitution for Michael Jackson's Family
(TMZ) Dr. Conrad Murray is asking the judge in his criminal case to deny Michael Jackson's family full restitution, on grounds MJ caused his own death.

Murray filed legal docs yesterday -- obtained by TMZ -- asking for evidence the defense never received during the trial ... evidence that could show Michael self-administered the fatal dose of Propofol.

Murray's lawyer, Michael Flanagan, argues that in deciding how much restitution the family gets, it's appropriate to consider the victim's responsibility for his own demise.

So Murray will concede he's partly to blame -- he can't argue otherwise because of the conviction -- but he still wants to prove that MJ ultimately caused his own death.

The prosecution is asking for around $100 million in restitution, but the judge hasn't decided on a figure. But once the figure is set, if Flanagan gets his way and the judge were to decide MJ was 50% responsible for his death, the judge would reduce the restitution award by 50%.

So the fat lady hasn't sung ... yet. more on this story

Jeff Berlin Releasing New Album in February
Glass Onyon sent over word that Jeff Berlin will deliver a new album next month: Insiders who have heard bass legend Jeff Berlin's newest CD are buzzing about the forthcoming release – a release that they are saying could possibly be the greatest bass album of all time!

The word is that Jeff Berlin has recorded a jazz CD so astonishing that the artist himself is in shock with what he played! "I prepared for it by practicing 5 hours a day for weeks," Jeff explains. "What came of my preparation was to record solos on the bass that I believe have never been heard before from a bass player!"

Also included on these virtuosic recording sessions are Richard Drexler on piano and upright bass and legendary drummer Mike Clark, best known for his work with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters, who had this to say about Jeff's new CD: "Everyone knows that Jeff is a virtuoso, but on his new CD he went past this! I've played with all of the great jazz bassists in the world and Jeff is at the top of my list. We locked from the first beat! The harmonic ideas that he played were unbelievable, and our time was astonishing. Jeff is the most forward-looking bassist I have ever played with. Jeff played like he wasn't afraid to take a chance at any moment – he played at the highest level without a net. There just isn't a CD like this one anywhere. He is a player's player, a total artist and it showed on our collaboration together!"

Jeff added that, "Richard and Mike made this CD happen! Without them I never could have had the support and interplay that pushed me to play what I played. Mike's time was swinging like a pendulum. And Richard is a freak: he actually played acoustic bass while I was soloing and then put it down to walk to the piano and take a solo. I don't know of anyone else who could have done what he did!"

Jeff Berlin's new CD, titled 'Low Standards' due to the performance of two bass players and Jeff's penchant for puns (his previous recording was called 'High Standards') is scheduled for release at the end of February 2012. For more information visit Jeff Berlin's official website here.

Georgia Anne Muldrow Album Coming in March
SomeOthaShip Connect have set a March 27th release date for Georgia Anne Muldrow's new album, Seeds.

Seeds not only marks Georgia's first album as a vocalist on an outside producers instrumentation, it also marks the first full length project Madlib has produced exclusively for a female vocalist.

Says Georgia, "Not handling production and focusing strictly on the lyrics and vocals was a very different experience for me. It was as if I walked into someone else's world and built a hut. But I'm very proud of the hut we built and am excited about the release."

Muldrow, a prolific vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, comes from a musical family. Her father, the late Ronald Muldrow, was a jazz musician and her mother, Rickie Byars-Beckwith, a singer with the Pharoah Sanders Ensemble and co-founder of Sound of Agape Rhythms. She's also a proud mother to her son Nokware Perkins with her life & music partner Dudley Perkins (aka Declaime). Muldrow's discography includes various pieces of work from Soul to Jazz to Hip-Hop and is as impressive as it is long for someone her age.

Lyrically Muldrow's themes on this album center around her wonder about the elements of life and the interconnected nature of the universe. The first single, "Seeds" will be released as a 7" via Fat Beats and digitally via iTunes on February 14, 2012. "Seeds" asks the people of the world to elevate their consciousness and take responsibility for the future of our children and the planet. The 7" will also feature the b-side, "Husfriend," an ode to the beauty of commitment to another person. Another highlight track, "Wind," tells an esoteric story about a fisherman and his family and how the wind carries people's stories, traditions and soul.

Muldrow and Dudley Perkins aka Declaime are set to tour the U.S. in support of Seeds in late March/April. G&D will play Jazz Café in London, UK on Jan. 29th and in Rennes, France on Feb. 2nd at MJC Brequigny.

Listen to the new single 'Seeds' via Soundcloud here.

Steve Austin Has 3:16 Offer for Tim Tebow
(TMZ) Before there was Tebow 3:16 in the NFL .. there was Austin 3:16 in the WWE ... and now the wrestling legend says he's willing to surrender his iconic numbers to the NFL star, pending one GIANT condition.

TMZ spoke with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin -- who tells us he watched Tebow's Mile High Miracle this weekend and was blown away when he learned Tim threw for exactly 316 yards in the playoff victory.

FYI -- the numbers have a special meaning with Stone Cold, who created the famous faux bible verse back in the '90s to humiliate his enemies -- "Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass!!!"

Now, Austin tells us, "Austin 3:16 still rules" ... but adds, "If Tebow can throw for 316 yards again this weekend then hell, he can have the numbers and I'll have no problem with it."

Austin continues, "A guy named John was using it before me ... so if Tebow can do it again, more power to him!"

"I wish him all the luck in the world," Austin says ... adding, "I'm not a Denver fan but Tim's a great role model for kids." more on this story

Bachelorette Contestant Has Emergency Spinal Surgery
(TMZ) Kiptyn Locke -- a contestant on "The Bachelorette" who jumped to the show "Bachelor Pad" -- underwent 4 1/2 hours of emergency surgery last week to repair severely ruptured discs in his neck ... that were perilously compressing against his spine.

Neck injuries are no joke ... but we're told Locke -- who is currently dating former "Bachelor" contestant Tenley Molzahn (left) -- is expected to make a full recovery.

It's unclear how Kiptyn injured himself. Tenley says, "There are definitely angels involved in this emergency." more on this story

Kinky Friedman's Southern Discomfort Tour
(Conqueroo) Kinky Friedman is going south in 2012, specifically the southern United States, and he's bringing gifts for the natives. Foremost among these gifts is a solo performance described as Mark Twain meets Groucho Marx . . . at the corner of Johnny Cash and Lenny Bruce.

He'll also be carrying books, posters and music, surely enough for anyone. But, for the Southern Discomfort Tour, Kinky also comes with a Mexican refreshment: his brand new Kinky Friedman's Man in Black Tequila, "positively guaranteed to bring out one's inner Kinky."

The Kinkster, who has just wrapped up a highly anticipated new book with Billy Bob Thornton titled The Billy Bob Tapes, and who has started writing one with Willie Nelson, will begin the Southern Discomfort Tour in Texas, then swing through the Deep South, often to places he's never been. At most stops on the tour, Kinky will conduct special tequila tastings of the new high-grade, top-shelf tequila, either before or after performances.
