Pitchfork Video Used to Jail Rapper
(Radio.com) Chief Keef's ongoing legal problems took a turn for the worse on Tuesday (January 15) when the embattled Chicago rapper was jailed for probation violation. It was video evidence that sealed Keef's fate, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Last January, Keef (real name: Keith Cozart), was convicted of unlawful use of a weapon for an incident in which he waved a gun at a Chicago police officers. He was then sentenced to 18 months of probation and ordered to stay away from guns.

But in June, as part of promotion for his music, he went to a gun range with music website Pitchfork. He was seen in the video firing a semiautomatic rifle at a paper target.

The video has since been taken down but it was the center piece of evidence against the rapper in Tuesday's hearing. more on this story

Nicki Minaj Addresses Idol Feud With Mariah Carey
(popmusiclife) Nicki Minaj stopped by Ellen this week to promote her new role on American Idol and to perform.

Idol premiered Wednesday, and Minaj's on-screen feuding with fellow new judge Mariah Carey was obvious right from the start.

Nicki spoke with Ellen about the situation. "I dunno, it was just two big 'ol divas, I guess," said Minaj. "Before I went in there, I heard all the stuff that was being said but I didn't believe it. I heard them saying Mariah doesn't want you on the panel, but I'm saying no, I'm friends with Mariah. And I was arguing people down, 'don't believe everything you read, you're crazy!' And so I went there and I kinda started feeling a little bit of the shade, and I just overcompensated by being crazier." Watch it here.

Lonely & Blue: The Deepest Soul of Otis Reddin Coming in March
Stax Records have set a March 5, 2013 release date for Lonely & Blue: The Deepest Soul of Otis Reddin.

The new collection, which will bereleased as a CD and blue vinyl LP, contains the hits ("I've Been Loving You Too Long," "These Arms of Mine," "My Lover's Prayer," "Free Me") alongside many lesser-known songs ("Gone Again," "Open the Door," "Waste of Time," "Everybody Makes a Mistake," to name a few). They're all included in this compilation because they share the tangled theme of sorrow.

According to compilation producer David Gorman, "Given how nobody delivered a gut-wrenching sad song like Otis, I always felt he should have made an album you could put on late at night and settle into with a glass of something strong. The mood and the subject of every song is the same — Otis, heartbroken, and begging for love. I tried to find the saddest most potently heartbreaking songs he ever sang, with no regard for chart position or notoriety. There are a few hits on the album, but they're there because they fit the mood, not because we wanted to include the hits."

For instance, an alternate version of "I've Got Dreams To Remember" features lyrics that are darker and tell a more personal story than the better-known hit version. Little-known tracks like "Gone Again" and "A Waste of Time" are given the same weight as "I've Been Loving You too Long." The motif of love is even subtly addressed in the sequencing, the album closing with "Send Me Some Lovin'" and "My Lover's Prayer."
