Static-X week: Behind Cannibal
Day in Rock reports: To continue our special Static-X week, we asked Wayne to tell us a little about his favorite five tracks from the new CD. He starts off today with "CANNIBAL". Here is Wayne: "This was the first song I wrote for the new album. I knew from the moment I finished the demo it would be the first song on the cd, and it really gave me a clear idea of what direction I wanted to explore for the rest of the songs. For Cannibal, I challenged myself to write an entire song with one guitar riff. This is how I often wrote songs for our first album. The guitar riff becomes hypnotic after a while and starts to blend seamlessly with all the electronic sounds. I had been talking to John 5 for some time about making some music together, so I invited him to play a solo on the song, and it's one of the craziest solos I've ever heard. If I had to pick one song that represents the band the best at this point in time it would be Cannibal." Listen to the song at the full story link and go pick up the brand new CD, which hit stores this week! Check back tomorrow for another song. - Click Here for the Full Story

Blind Faith Reunion?
Earvolution reports: Claiming that he invited Steve Winwood to play at his second Crossroads Festival in Illinois because he has "unfinished business" with his one time band mate, Eric Clapton has stoked the rumor mill with hopes of a Blind Faith reunion. A true reformation will be impossible as bassist Ric Grech died in 1990, but should Ginger Baker appear, Clapton will have been instrumental in reforming yet another supergroup from the Sixties with Cream having played a series of shows in the fall of 2005.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Shaver Wanted Following Shoot Out
AP reports: Police have issued arrest warrants for country singer Billy Joe Shaver after he shot and wounded a man outside a Texas bar, the entertainer's attorney said.

After Shaver left a bar in Lorena on Saturday night, a drunk, aggressive stranger with a knife followed him into the parking lot, said attorney Joseph A. Turner of Austin. Shaver shot him in self-defense, he said.

Police in Lorena — about 80 miles north of Austin — issued arrest warrants late Monday on charges of aggravated assault and possessing a firearm in a prohibited place, Turner said.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Mice and Men? Modest Mouse Tap Unsigned Band for Tour
CMJ reports: The saying goes, "A guy goes nuts if he ain't got nobody." With Modest Mouse and Man Man livin' offa the fatt'a the land on tour together, these guys may still go nuts, but together they're guaranteed to put on one hell of a show in the process. And with Modest Mouse currently possessing the No. 1 album in the country, you'd think Man Man would have jumped at the chance. But we found out it was a little bit more organic that that.

The gnarliest men this side of Captain Beefheart plan to pepper their off-the-hook, Lord of the Flies-inspired live shows with a few songs off of their newest record, which is still at this point label-less.

"Isn't it crazy that an unsigned band is touring with Modest Mouse?" asks Man Man singer and piano player Ryan Kattner. "We think so, and it's awesome!"[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Keith Richards Snorted Father
TMZ reports: There's very little in the physical world that Keith Richards hasn't, by his own admission, ingested either by mouth or by nose -- including, it seems, his father's ashes.

The Rolling Stones axeman revealed to NME, the British music magazine, that he once snorted the remains of his own dad, Bert, leavened with a bit of cocaine to make it go down easier. "He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared ... It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive," says Keith.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Stapp Settles Sex Tape Suit
E! reports: The legal wrangling over Scott Stapp and Kid Rock's on-camera sexual escapade aboard a tour bus in 1999 is finally running out of gas.

On Friday the former Creed frontman settled his invasion-of-privacy lawsuit against adult film company World Wide Red Light District, which he had accused of unlawfully selling downloads of a videotaped romp involving Stapp, Kid Rock and four groupies. While Stapp's attorney, William Sayegh, refused to disclose just how much money his client will receive, only saying that the litigation was resolved "in Scott Stapp's favor." Lachey Dunked With Lawsuit
TMZ reports: A host of celebrities, including Nick Lachey, A. J. Discala and MLB star Brady Anderson, are being sued by a woman claiming she was stiffed out of a lucrative basketball franchise.

Laura Brau claims last summer she entered into a contract with a company controlled by A. J. Discala, estranged husband of Jaime-Lynn Sigler. Under the deal, Brau would become acting president of "Hollywood Fame," a newly formed American Basketball Association team and, among other things, receive 10% of the stock in the franchise.

In court documents obtained by TMZ, Brau claims Discala squeezed her out by giving 100% of the stock to other people, including Lachey.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Eyehategod Also Hate Reissues
Lambgoat reports: Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records has scrapped the planned reissue of Eyehategod's "99 Miles of Bad Road" CD at the band's request.

In a recent email to Moshpit Tragedy, Eyehategod bassist Gary Mader wrote: "We have been debating on whether or not to do this re-release for several reasons. First and most important, we feel that Emetic Records has been better to us than any label we have dealt with, and for that we feel that we owe some loyalty to them when it comes to any release. Finding an honest label is a rarity these days, and since we've got one, we'd rather not ruin that relationship. Aside from that, we are just less than enthusiastic about releasing yet another retrospective project. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be canceling all of the current tour plans for 2007. This includes Give It a Name in Europe, our slot on the My Chemical Romance tour in Canada and our shows in Mexico. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and we're disappointed that we won't be seeing the people and places that we were looking forward to. We will be playing one of the shows we had planned, May 7 in California, PA.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Fall Out Chimps For Cash
punkbands reports: Besides the millions of people who still actually buy compact discs, the record industry continutes to bitch and moan about how they've fallen from their mighty perch. So what do you do if you're in a band and can't convince your record label to foot hundreds of thousands of dollars to get cimpanzees and exposions in your music videos? Two words... product placement. The phenomenon hasn't gone unnoticed at the New York Times where they've written an article about Fall Out Boy and poor man's cologne, otherwise known as Tag body spray..

So yes, either chimps aren't free or FOB could use the extra money they haven't already pocketed from Wal Mart, Verizon, Honda, or whatever other big business company they've whored themselves out to. This is just the tip of the iceberg.[see full story for more- the evolution of Boy Bands continue]- Click Here for the Full Story
