Silverstein Week: Sound of the Sun
DiR reports: Silverstein's new CD ' Arrivals and Departures' hits stores this week and celebrate we asked Shane to pick his favorite five songs from the disc and tell us a little bit about each. We'll be giving you Shane's picks all week. We kick off today with "Sound of the Sun," here is Shane!

"I wrote the main riff of this song actually a long time ago, maybe 2 years ago, but I was never really sure how to put the rest of it together. It's funny, some songs write themselves and only take an hour to finish, whereas some take so long, and you just keep going back and changing them. This one took forever, but was actually the first one I finished entirely for this record. It's also my favorite."

Listen to the song, learn more about the group and grab their latest tour dates at the following link. And don't forget to pick up a copy of "Arrivals and Departures"! - http://www.myspace.com/silverstein

No one was injured but there was extensive damage to the bus and the group lost personal property as well as instruments, sound equipment and merch. Kenny G Assault
Jam! reports: Investigators are trying to determine who threw objects from a bluff-top compound owned by musician Kenny G that struck a 9-year-old girl on the head.

The incident happened June 23 when Brooke Porter was at the beach with her family and she was hit in the head, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives. She needed four stitches to close her wound.

Sheriff's officials said they believe two teens on the musician's property - neither related to him - threw the objects that hit Brooke more than 15 metres below.

Gore's Live Earth Pledge
Hecklerspray reports: There's little over a week to go until the Live Earth concerts take place - where Snow Patrol will play Chasing Cars over and over again until the Sun vomits down itself, thus cooling the Earth's climate by up to five degrees Celsius.

But some cynics are suggesting that Madonna singing a song about climate change in an energy-gobbling sports stadium full of people who shat out tons of carbon getting there while being broadcast to billions of environment-slaughtering television sets might not be the best way to stop the world from perishing in a whirlwind of fiery terror. And that's why Al Gore has beefed-up Live Earth's credibility by asking everyone to sign a special climate change pledge that will save the planet via the power of woolly-worded vague promises about making the governments of the world do stuff and stuff.- more on this story

Slayer Fan Hospitalized After Fall
Blabbermouth reports: A 22-year-old man is in critical condition after jumping from a bridge during SLAYER's headlining show at the Metaltown festival in Gothenburg, Sweden late Saturday night (June 30), according to GT.

The Göta-Älv bridge is located just opposite the main stage and a lot of people stand on the bridge and watch the performances from a distance.

SLAYER was about an hour into its show when the 22-year-old man and a friend stripped down to their underwear. As the crowd cheered on, the two counted down and were about to jump off when one of them decided not to go through with the "joke" and watched as his friend hurled himself from the 30-meter-high bridge. When the jumper didn't resurface, his friend screamed that someone should call the emergency number 112. The jumper was later found unconcious in the water and medical personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him. He was rushed to the emergency room and is currently in critical condition.- more on this story
