Evans Blue Week: Pursuit
DiR reports: We're celebrating the release of Evans Blue new CD, "THE PURSUIT BEGINS WHEN THIS portrayal OF LIFE ENDS," this week. We asked the band to pick their five favorite tracks from the CD and tell us a little bit about each one.

We kick off with the song "Pursuit": The pursuit is a song that sums up the entire album. There is a lot of darkness and despair in the songs that preceded it but it is all about The Pursuit towards something better. It's about moving away from the negatives and starting to live life to the fullest. This song also indicates the starting point of the album that will follow it. We are always writing towards the future of the band. Every lyric is deliberate and the when we hit the final note of the final song we write the story will be complete.- Grab a preview of the CD, get tour dates and more here

Jackass Rapper
Contact Music reports: JACKASS star STEVE-O has enlisted some impressive help on his new rap album - the producers of hip-hop group G-Unit.

Writing on his MySpace page, Steve-O says, "To anyone that chooses to be critical of my decision to make this rap album, I've got bad news for you, it's a great album. [Doesn't that contradict the comment about matching the standards of Fiddy and Young Duck?] - Read more here

antiMusic reports: New Order have announced that their now former bass player was a bit full of it when he announced during a radio interview that the band had split. Not so, says Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris.

Sgt Pepper Gets Cheap Tribute
antiMusic reports: Hello there ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to rock? May I introduce to you, the act you’ve known for all these years! That's right two music generations are about to collide when Cheap Trick and some friends will be playing the Beatles classic, Sgt Pepper, in it's entirety.

The event is set to take place at the Hollywood Bowl on August 10th and 11th to mark the 40th anniversary of the landmark album. Cheap Trick will be making a "special appearance" at the venue and will joined by Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Aimee Mann, Joan Osborne and other unannounced special guests. Will Beatle Paul show up?

Cheap Trick will also reportedly go beyond Pepper and include some additional covers of their favorite Beatles songs like "Magical Mystery Tour," "Norwegian Wood" and "Eleanor Rigby." While we're talking about honors it might be well to mention that the Illinois legislature is considering naming April 1st Cheap Trick day. That is not an April Fools joke. And it won't be a one off event, the bill calls for April 1st to forever be Cheap Trick day. The bill was referred to committee back in June so we'll see if they get off their legislative asses in time for next year.

Only Fiddy Can Profit from Being Shot
BBC reports: Rapper 50 Cent has sued an internet advertising firm for $1m (£486,000) for an online promotion which allegedly shows him being shot.

In court papers filed in New York, the star claims viewers are encouraged to target him, with a successful shot resulting in a cloud of red.

His lawyer Peter Raymond said the advert does not use 50 Cent's name, but "the character is intended to be him".- Damn, that was a fun game. Get more on this story.

Seether Not To Be Lowered to Amy Lee's Level
TuneLab reports: If you're waiting for the Seether track that responds to Amy Lee's "Call Me When You're Sober", keep on waiting. In recent interview with MTV, front-man Shaun Morgan said the song has followed him around and haunted him.

"People would say to me, 'Yeah, man, I know what you're going through,' and I was like, 'No, I don't think you do.' Your ex-girlfriend didn't write a song about you, that millions of people have heard, saying you're a bad guy. As soon as that happens, buddy, come up and tell me you know what I'm going through.

... In any relationship, I don't think it's right to say and do those things when people break up, and she obviously felt the need to go out there and make me sound like a complete a--hole. What can I do? I just refuse to lower myself to that level." - more on his comments

Posers and Punks in New Movie
DiR reports: Irony must be the order of the day for producers of "Punk's Not Dead," a new documentary that is supposed to explore the history for musical genre and does include punk legends like The Ramones, Social Distortion, Bad Religion and Henry Rollins. But for some reasons they have decided to include the bubblegun Nickelodeon offspring of the genre including Sum 41 and Good Charlotte. Perhaps the bands are included to show what some misguided record execs are trying to pass off as punk these days?

Here is a little info from punkbands (who didn't bother to call the producer out on the poser factor): Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Good Charlotte and Bad Religion are among the bands starring in the documentary, 'Punk's Not Dead', which hits US theatres this week. The film is an exploration of the evolution of punk rock featuring dozens of interviews with prominent punk artists as well as rare concert footage.

The film opened July 21s in Chicago and will screen in several cities across the country throughout the summer. Also in the film are the Ramones, Henry Rollins, Billy Idol, NOFX, Social Distortion, Stiff Little Fingers and Sum 41. [no news on their follow up film, Metal Rules, staring Nickelback and Clay Aiken but screening times for this film- are here.]

SLAYER is gearing up for its tour with MARILYN MANSON, which begins July 25 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Araya told Billboard.com the group is "going for an all-brutal set" that will feature songs SLAYER hasn't played in awhile, including "Bitter Peace" and "Ghosts of War". "We've been playing mostly the standards on this trip," Araya said, "so we kind of dug a little deeper and added a couple more to make it a little heavier."
