MTV Reality Star Killed in Car Accident
TMZ reports: TMZ has learned Kandice Hutchinson, one of the contestants kicked off the upcoming MTV dating show "A Double Shot at Love," died in a car accident a short while after taping her last appearance for the show.

We're told the producers of the show -- which features two bisexual twin sisters looking for love [and they wonder why their ratings are in the toilet!]-- edited her scenes to remove some of the more outrageous behavior, out of respect for the family. Sources close to the show tell us the producers have been in touch with the girl's family and they are supportive of MTV's plan to keep her in the show.

According to KDFW in Texas, Hutchinson died on October 21after her car was rear-ended causing Kandice to be ejected. Police said she died on the scene. - more on this story

Coldplay Song Theft Hurts
Music Radar reports: As previously reported on MusicRadar, Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay, claiming the UK band's Grammy-nominated song Viva La Vida uses one of his melodies.

Speaking exclusively to MusicRadar on 6 December, Joe Satriani recalls the exact emotion he felt when he first heard Coldplay's Viva La Vida. "The second I heard, I knew..."

"I felt like a dagger went right through my heart. It hurt so much," Satriani says. "The second I heard it, I knew it was [my own] If I Could Fly."

As it turned out, Satriani wasn't the only one who noticed the similarity between If I Could Fly and Viva La Vida. - more of the interview

Boy George Found Guilty
AP reports: Boy George, the flamboyant former Culture Club front man, was convicted Friday of falsely imprisoning a male escort. [The BBC reports that George will likely be ordered to serve jail time for the conviction. He will be sentenced on January 16th]

Norwegian escort Audun Carlsen had alleged he was handcuffed to a wall hook at the singer's east London apartment on April 28, 2007. Prosecutors said Carlsen was held by the singer, whose real name is George O'Dowd, for under an hour.

Carlsen, 29, said O'Dowd swung a metal chain at him when he got loose and fled the apartment following a naked photo shoot. O'Dowd, who is 46, admitted he restrained Carlsen with handcuffs while trying to figure out if Carlsen had tampered with a computer. - more on this story

Jeff Beck Slams Zeppelin Reunion Plans
House of Rock reports: Following Paul McCartney's lead of a few days ago, legendary guitarist Jeff Beck has slammed Led Zeppelin's comeback plans - insisting it will be pointless without former lead singer Robert Plant. The 64-year-old legend - who played in The Yardbirds with Jimmy Page in the mid 60's, praised the band's huge one-off concert at London's O2 Arena last December.

But Beck argues plans for a full-blown tour should be shelved without Plant, who has repeatedly refused to join his old band mates full-time.

He says, "I really don't think it's a good idea, not if Robert doesn't want to. I was there at the one-off show at the O2 Arena and it was fantastic. But I think they should just leave it there. They will have been offered loads of money and it'll be tempting but that's not a good enough reason to me. It would be different if they all wanted to do it and record new material but that's not the case." - more on this story

Lily Allen Set Release for Sophomore Album
PR reports: On February 10th, 2009, Capitol Records will release It's Not Me, It's You, the follow-up to Lily Allen's critically acclaimed 2007 debut, Alright, Still.

Recorded at Eagle Rock Studios in Los Angeles, the album finds Lily in top form, creating a record Blender's recent "In The Studio" feature described as "part God, part country and all middle finger."

Allen wrote and recorded the album's 12 songs with producer Greg Kurstin (the bird and the bee), who worked with her on three songs for Alright, Still - "Everything's Just Wonderful," "Alfie" and "Not Big." - but will Walmart carry an album with a song called F**K?

Rage Against Reunion Plans
Music Radar reports: Since the early '90s as the guitarist with Rage Against The Machine, Tom Morello has changed the way people view the electric six string. But lately it's the sound of the acoustic that floats his boat.

He's already put out two albums under his folk-based alter ego The Nightwatchman, and he has lots of other songs waiting to be be recorded. As he sees it, that's just fine. Writing and recording his own material is where Morello sees his career headed. Where he doesn't see it, apparently, is with Rage Against The Machine - at least as far as the studio is concerned.

The seminal rap-rock band reformed in 2007 after a seven-year break and have put on blistering live shows all over the globe, but when it comes to recording a new album, Morello says, "There are no plans for that." - more on this story

Toni Braxton Cancer Scare
TMZ reports: Toni Braxton was noticeably absent from the finale of "Dancing with the Stars" -- and it was a brush with cancer that kept her from performing.

TMZ has learned Braxton discovered a lump in her breast before she was set to appear on "DWTS" and was told she had to have it removed immediately.

Rather than have the surgery right away, Braxton chose to wait until after she was eliminated from the show. Luckily, it turned out to be benign.

The Teen Pop Noise Virus
PR reports: Seeland Records is pleased to present The Teen-Pop-Noise Virus, one of the most absurd albums of all-time by Poptastic.

The music, like the band itself, was spawned from the warped minds of experimental producers Chris Fitzpatrick and Thomas Dimuzio. At the core of their debut release are twelve intricately mangled songs, but in the spaces between, there is much more.

Fitzpatrick assembled Poptastic as a coed "boy-band," conjuring the spirit of Lou Perlman, who manned the helm of the millennial teen-pop wave. Accordingly, Fitzpatrick wrote and performed pop music and enlisted random friends to sing the sappy break-up-to-make-up lyrics he wrote in an imagined teenaged perspective. Once complete, the process had really only begun, and the production team of Dimuzio and Fitzpatrick set out to obsessively destroy the album masters with electronic effects until the music sounded as if a virus had infected the studio. Although the producers suggest the album still vaguely resembles the original, all of the original masters have been destroyed; only the remix remains. - more on this story
