Death Threats For Britney?
MTV reports: Britney Spears has threatened to cancel her eagerly anticipated Circus tour - which kicked off only last month - after receiving a string of anonymous death threats by phone and mail.

The If U Seek Amy singer is said to fear for the lives of her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, who are both accompanying her on the tour.

A source told Look magazine: "Britney received some anonymous death threats over the phone and in the mail, and her worst fear is a kidnap plot against Sean or Jayden. She's been having terrible nightmares ever since then and she wakes up in the middle of the night crying out for her boys." [oh an unnamed source. Take that for what it's worth]

Counting Crows Drop Outdated Record Label
antiMusic reports: Counting Crows frontmant Adam Duritz issued an open letter to fans on the band's official site with a bombshell announcement that the band had left their label home of Geffen. Here is what he had to say:

Eighteen years ago, when Counting Crows signed our first record contract, we were an unknown band signed to DGC, the cool indie-flavored boutique label of Geffen Records.
Our label mates were Sonic Youth, The Posies, Nirvana, The Sundays, Maria McKee and That Dog, to name a few. Bands knew each other, played on each other's records, toured together... It was a dream environment to be a musician, even for that time.

A lot of things changed in seventeen years. DGC disappeared except as a logo on our records, and Geffen became one of many labels of a much larger conglomerate. Still, Geffen and Counting Crows never stopped working together and never stopped succeeding together. We made great music and together we sold a lot of records. We're still here.

Pixies Mainman Announces Grand Duchy Project with Violet Clark
PR reports: Tuesday, April 14th sees the release of Petits Fours, the debut album from Grand Duchy, aka Violet Clark and Black Francis. Featuring 9 tracks, Petits Fours is joint venture between Clark and Francis, rather than a solo Francis project, and contains driving bass lines, a healthy dose of synths and some excellent vocals from Clark, alongside Francis's trademark guitar squalls.

"Once upon a time, Violet and I went into the studio together for a day as an experiment, and we came out that night with 'Fort Wayne'," explains Francis. "A leaked version seemed to please others, and so we decided to continue the 'experiment'. We decided that, while we were not expert players on all rock ensemble instruments, we would play everything ourselves as we had done on the Fort Wayne session.

"She was innocent. I hadn't felt innocent for years. She digs the 80's. I had spent the latter part of the 80's doing my part to destroy the 80's. Our second recording session involved a fair amount of shouting and throwing things, much to the horror, I'm sure, of our two engineers Thaddeus Moore and Jason Carter; being pros they just smiled at us.

Singled Out: Paul Epic
antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Paul Epic tells us about "Last Stop on a Hard Fall" from his brand new album "South of Heaven, North of Hell". We now turn it over to Paul for the story:

We were at the Mandalay Bay and I was hanging out with Mike K former guitarist for Nelly Furtado and a girl named Merry who was bass player for Sheband , I had actually just met her when she introduced herself to me. Danzigs bodyguard was in the house also. Well a bunch of us decided to head to a local strip bar. I went with Merry, we invited another couple and Mike K came along too. When arrived some other bands were also at the club. We took a Vip and hung out for a while. Merry and I noted that the girl from the couple we invited was having fun but the guy she was with didn't seem to feel comfortable.

Merry had to get up early next day so she left shortly after. Soon after the other couple got into an argument. Seems the young lady liked hanging out talking to us musicians but the guy didn't like it. I was feeling a bit like joking around so got up, put my arm around her as they argued and said. Friend, she doesn't want to hang out with you, she likes hanging out with the rockstars. She laughed, he looked puzzled. I sat down as I was just joking.

Suddenly he grabbed her and shoved her up against the bar grabbing her throat. I jumped up, but a bouncer was already there so I whispered, he's gotta go. Well he went alright but called LVPD and said we had kidnapped his girlfriend. The police knew better and asked if she would like to leave while they where talking to him. - read the rest of this song story
