Simon Cowell's Ex Attacked Outside American Idol Finale
E! reports: Former Simon Cowell squeeze and Extra correspondent Terri Seymour was attacked outside the Nokia Theatre last night, apparently targeted because of her association with the Idol judge, police tell E! News.

According to a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, officers on hand for crowd control witnessed the incident, which took place around 7 p.m. As Seymour was leaving the venue, she was approached by 33-year-old Janice Thibodeaux, who asked if Seymour was Cowell's ex-girlfriend.

After Seymour answered in the affirmative, police say Thibodeaux—who later claimed she was acting in the name of justice for one Paula Abdul—attacked Seymour, grabbing her neck and attempting to choke her. - more on this story

Souxsie Vs Eye Candy Pop Tarts
Rock Radio reports: Souxsie Sioux says the music industry has gone backwards in the way it markets female performers, and that even though there are talented women in the industry, it's difficult to respect them.

The ex-Banshee tells the BBC: "I like a bit of eye-candy like anyone – but to have it solely about the eye-candy and have it fall into a category so rigidly is wrong.

"There are some strong female performers out there, but the industry's pre-occupation with the packaging of how a woman looks has gone completely the other way – back to almost the 60s or early 70s. - more on this story

Pixies Frontman Says Greed Caused Record Companies' Current Problems
NME reports: Pixies frontman Black Francis (aka Frank Black) took some time out to speak with NME.COM about the challenges of touring, the release of the new box set and the current state of the music industry.

Here are a couple of excerpts: "I think what has to happen is everyone has to get used to making less money and have to charge less money," Francis declared. "Everything's got to get cut down to more of a five-dollar world. People will say, "Oh yeah, I'll pay five bucks to see that or for a T-shirt or a record. I think it's gonna become more of a five-dollar world than a $25 world, $50, or a $150 world.

"...I think everyone should sell whatever product they want to sell for whatever price they want to sell it for, but ultimately the market will dictate what it is and people will have to charge less money for everything. Record companies have been overcharging people for way too long and now this is the trouble that they're in. They created this situation because they were just a little too greedy," he said. - more on this story

Oceano vs. Lambgoat
Earache reports: A controversial new video entitled "Oceano vs. Lambgoat" went live on Metal Injection Monday afternoon. The video, which depicts the the band (with Metal Injection's Grim Kim) responding to some of the worst comments from the infamous metal site, Lambgoat.com, has stoked ire of metalheads all over the net.

Viewed over 16,000 times on Metal Injection alone (along with it, a large boost in traffic which came close to crashing the site), the video was the subject of a 25 page flame thread on Lambgoat which was started soon after the video went live on Monday afternoon, deleted Tuesday morning and shortly thereafter spawned several other flame threads all across Lambgoat and beyond in the days that followed.

Since Monday afternoon, OCEANO guitarist, Andrew Mikhail has had to deal with numerous insults, prank calls and threats regarding the video. Here's his take on it and why they made the video: "It wasn't meant for everyone to understand, it was a funny shot at those "ever-so-serious" about trying to put us down for doing what we love. If sitting online talking shit on humans living their lives the way THEY want is what YOU love, that's fine. To each their own, right? We just wanted to lighten up the racism & ignorance of the online world plague also known as "internet warriors" or "keyboard toughguys" have left on sites LIKE lambgoat or blabbermouth by showing how ridiculous people can really be behind a computer screen and reading some statements aloud. We honestly don't care what bad things people say about us, because those people obviously don't know what were about. But there are a good amount of people out there who DO get what were about and they understand that we weren't SERIOUS; and we can't express how happy we are to have them with us you guys rock and to the "haters" well, we just can't win 'em all c an we?"

Singled Out: iwrestledabearonce
antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today iwrestledabearonce guitarist Steven Bradley tells us about "You Ain't No Family" from their brand new album "It's All Happening," which hits stores on June 2nd. We now turn it over to Steven for the story:

"You Ain't No Family" was one of the few songs we had pretty much finished up before entering the studio! Parts of it are actually riffs John and I have had for years.. Even before we were doing IWABO. The first half of the song was put together probably a year ago.. It was the first song we started on after we wrote and recorded "Tastes Like Kevin Bacon". The rest of it was finished up just before we left for the studio. And actually, the hillbilly break part with the fiddle and horse sound we added while joking around in the studio! That horse sample made us laugh like idiots, so we wrote a country part and put it in the song for no apparent reason. Hooray for stupid last minute things that end up being the best part of songs!

That song turned out to be one of my favorites on the album, and I think it's a pretty accurate representation of all that is "IWABO." It has some brutal heaviness, some catchy chorusy stuff, a little funky jazz break, a redneck country part, and probably the nastiest breakdown on the whole record. Woo!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
