Far Heading West
Far has just announced two weeks of dates through the western US surrounding the May 25 release of their fifth full-length, At Night We Live (Vagrant). The band warms up on a handful of dates later this month opening for The Used before kicking off their own headline dates with a special former-hometown-Sacramento, California show on May 18 at The Empire. More dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Considered one of the most influential rock bands from the late 90's, Far is releasing their first new music after a ten-year absence. The band - Jonah Matranga - vocals/guitar, Shaun Lopez – guitar, John Gutenberger – bass, and Chris Robyn – drummer - got their start in Sacramento in the early '90's and released four full-length albums before disbanding in 1998, soon after the release of Water & Solutions (Epic/Immortal). That album was considered one of the most influential post-hardcore records ever by Alternative Press and Kerrang! magazines, among others, and remains a touchstone for bands as diverse as blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and Deftones.

Far will be announcing special pre-order offers for At Night We Live on Monday, April 19 and fans can now hear "Deafening," the lead track from the new album, on the band's MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/far. A video album teaser will debut next week, too. The six-minute in-depth clip features exclusive interviews with the band discussing their return and the making of At Night We Live.

Crypt Of Kerberos Get Pulverised
Pulverised Records is proud to announce the signing of reunited Swedish cult death metallers Crypt Of Kerberos. Formerly known as Macrodex, Crypt Of Kerberos features members of Tyrant, Eternal Darkness and Arcana. Their unorthodox song structures, blazing fret work and atmospheric vibe went unnoticed in the early '90s and the band broke up following the release of underrated 1993 Adipocere debut World Of Myths.

Said guitarist Peter Bjärgö of the reunion: "After many years of absence, we finally made the decision to make a new album! A lot of material has been written over the years and we realized it was more than sufficient for a full-length. The new material is darker and heavier than ever before and we definitely look forward to recording."

Added Pulverised Records label manager Roy Yeo: "Having Known Crypt Of Kerberos since the early days, I was intrigued by their sense of intellectuality in the songwriting department, and of course those jaw-dropping guitar solos that complement the songs so flawlessly! Crypt Of Kerberos is a perfect example of how an excellent band was criminally ignored back in the days and we hope this brand new album will give them the recognition they deserve." - more on this story

Indie Artists Tribute Graham Nash
Grass Roots Record Co. and (((folkYEAH!))) Presents have assembled an all-star line-up of contemporary indie artists such as Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Robin Pecknold (of Fleet Foxes), Brendan Benson (of The Raconteurs), Vetiver, Alela Diane, Sleepy Sun, Mariee Sioux & Greg Weeks (from Espers), Port O Brien with The Papercuts, The Moore Brothers and Graham's own daughter, Nile Nash to pay tribute to Graham Nash's seminal debut solo record Songs For Beginners.

All of these contemporary artists have been greatly influenced by Nash's work. The artists put a unique spin on each song, making it his or her own while also honoring the timeless vibe of the original recordings. Some stay true to the arrangements that Graham and his Bay Area musician pals laid down in 1970, while others go for a completely fresh reinterpretation.

In an effort to educate a younger generation about Graham's influential career Grass Roots Record Co. will release weekly webisodes of a discussion between Nash historian Joel Bernstein and MOJO editor and music critic Sylvie Simmons. In these videos Simmons and Bernstein discuss the historical significance of Songs For Beginners, the importance of Graham's politically charged material and the cultural temperament of the era in which it was written. Each episode will air on Grass Roots website www.grassrootsrecordco.com and will premiere every Wednesday leading up to the release of "Be Yourself." - more on this story

Keller Williams Announces Album and Tour
Keller Williams releases his first-ever all-covers collection, amusingly titled Thief, on May 25, 2010. Recorded with the Keels—husband and wife duo Larry and Jenny Keel—Thief includes songs originally written and recorded by as wildly diverse an assemblage as anyone's ever likely to dream up.

Keller is on tour this summer - at solo shows, with The Keels, and even for a run of gigs as vocalist/guitarist in The Rhythm Devils, the project by Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and his partner percussionist Mickey Hart. Keller's complete list of currently confirmed tour dates is included below.

Thief offers up Keller-versions of songs by an [almost] unthinkable collection of artists: from Amy Winehouse ("Rehab") to the Grateful Dead ("Mountains of the Moon"), the Butthole Surfers ("Pepper") to Kris Kristofferson ("Don't Cuss That Fiddle," which opens the album, and "The Year 2003 Minus 25," which closes the album). The set is filled out with tunes by Ryan Adams, the Presidents of the United States of America, the Raconteurs, Patterson Hood, Danny Barnes, Cracker, the Yonder Mountain String Band and Marcy Playground. All over the place, indeed, but that's the way Williams likes it. And in his hands it all makes sense—like everything he's ever touched, whether from his own pen or someone else's, it all becomes Keller Williams' music. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to http://www.kellerwilliams.net for a big Thief pre-sale and contest announcement coming soon. - more on this story

Singled Out: Dearly Beloved's "Move On"
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Rob Higgins of Dearly Beloved tells about their single "Move On" from their brand new album "Make It Bleed". We now turn it over to Rob for the story:

By the end of writing "Move On," a song that started out as bitch-session on relationships in general, I found myself focusing on much broader issues. The more sociological aspects and disposable nature of modern life, if you will. Not down with something? Move on, there's always something else to do. Not happy with a friend, move on, there's always someone else to meet. Option paralysis on speed shuffle. That sort of thing. The age of information and technology is pretty convenient but it's also kind of cold and disturbing and in a way it has desensitized us all to some degree. Those were the things I was thinking about when the song came together.

The track was the first Dearly Beloved song to be released that was recorded in it's entirety at Phoebe St., our home studio. The setup occupies the third floor of my house and for an LE-based Pro Tools rig I must say that it's pretty kick-ass. We use nothing but old analog pre-amps on our drums and don't like editing performances. We don't have many rules, per se, but NO ROBOT ROCK is one of them.

The freedom of tracking bass grooves at 4 am at home, when everyone else I knew was asleep, grooves that sounded good enough to keep, was priceless. That's where the music came from, a spontaneous late night jam on the one - I remember the clock said 4:24 am when I hit the record button - at about 4:34 I came up for air and in all I had about 10 minutes of off-the-cuff riffage with an actual outro that was totally different than anything else in the jam, which I liked. The last third of that thoughtless freak-out session is the actual bass track in the song, note for note, wacky arrangement and all.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, check out the EPK listen to the song for yourself and learn more about the album and band - right here!
