Guns N' Roses Warning
Fans at this weekend's Reading and Leeds festival may find that if Guns N' Roses are an hour late; they will be an Axl short. According to the BBC, the festival "boss" has warned that he won't put the future of his event in jeopardy if Guns N' Roses repeat their two hour late start from 2002. If they are late, they simply won't go on.

"If Guns N' Roses decide to take to stage as late as they did in Leeds some years ago then the performance just won't happen," said Melvin Benn in a BBC report. "I've had a very heavy warning from the local councils. There is a curfew - it's a very strict curfew."

Pearl Jam celebrate their 20th anniversary this year and instead of the usual nostalgia tour or reissue campaign, the band plans to play a special charity gig instead.

Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard tells Billboard that the band will take part in Neil Young's annual Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, Calif. on Oct. 23 and 24.

"The only thing we've got going on in October is Bridge School, which is really special," Gossard told Billboard while in New York to support the new album by his side-band, Brad. "So that's our 20th anniversary, which is fitting. It's perfect: not too blown up. It's not about us, it about all those kids that are on stage with you and about Neil Young and his commitment, his influence." - Read the full Billboard report here

Geezer Wants One Big Final Black Sabbath Tour
(The Metal Den) Geezer Butler wants to get back together with the original lineup Black Sabbath, consisting of him, vocalist John "Ozzy" Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward, for at least one more tour.

"It'd be just nice to do one final, big Sabbath tour because we didn't really play that many places when we got together for the last reunion (in 2005)," Butler said in a telephone interview with The Canadian Press.

"We've never played Japan as the original band and we haven't played Australia since the '70s. There's a lot of places in eastern Europe that didn't even exist when we were going the first time around, so there's loads of places we'd like to play as the original band. So hopefully we'll do it."

"It'd be nice to do the tour while we're still alive." - more on this story

Singled Out: Fight The Lion
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Fight The Lion lead singer Jake Mimikos tells us about "Time Taker" and "A New Hope" from their new album "When the Mighty Fall," which is currently available on iTunes. We now turn it over to Jake for the stories:

"Time Taker" - This was one of those songs that we knew instantly would be good. Musically it came together so easy for us because we knew we wanted to throw some toms in the verses with a spacey guitar and then come in big on the chorus. Once we started to figure out the vocal harmonies, we felt the song was brought to a whole new level. At that point I started to think about the lyrics. Well one main theme that was going through my head when playing the song (and hearing the guitar riffs) was time. I began to think about how I could incorporate something in my life, something that was real, into the song. With my busy schedule (and I'm sure many people's busy schedule) I wanted to tie it all together. Starting with the chorus ["time, it's never enough", "I'm just walking on that line", "holding on too tight", "afraid to let go"], I felt it conveyed everything I was feeling at the time. The constant struggle with never having enough time and finding it hard to just give it away frivolously knowing how precious it is.

"A New Hope" - Musically we really let go on this one. I brought my guitar riff in for the guys and a big reason why I love my band is one by one they came up with their parts and the song came together as it should have. Most of the lyrics were already written at that point. The song strikes a chord in me still every time I hear it. It reminds me of why I keep looking forward in life and never back. Why you must not regret the things you do and how you can easily lose it all in the blink of an eye. It Is meant to be inspiring though, not at all to drag anyone down. This is pretty much the theme to a lot of the lyrics on the album. We thought it was a great way to open the CD.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the stories behind the songs, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Comprehensive Stevie Ray Vaughan Book Series Launching in September
Backbeat Books have announced the first volume of a comprehensive two book set on Stevie Ray Vaughan, which is set for release in September.

Craig Hopkins, the author of 'The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan' returns with Stevie Ray Vaughan: Day By Day, Night After Night - His Early Years, 1954-1982.

Here is the publisher's description: It is no easy feat to capture the enormous spirit of Stevie Ray Vaughan, a man whose presence in the world was like an untamable fire, shooting flames of raw talent, passion, and innovation. That bright light wrestled with a dark side, an addiction and sadness that threatened to put out the fire forever. His unmatched guitar playing, buttery vocals, and unforgettable songs made him a triple threat. Vaughan is arguably the greatest guitar god who has ever lived – a re-inventor of guitar and the blues. Twenty years after his death, he lives on in the hearts of millions of people around the world. - more on this story

Good Charlotte Mall Tour
Some misguided souls have called Good Charlotte a punk band. Even with a very liberal definition of the genre that is really stretching it, sort of like calling Warrant a death metal band. You wouldn't find the likes of The Damned, Social Distortion, X, Dead Kennedys, T.S.O.L., or D.I. playing at Macys but that where you will find Good Charlotte joining the ranks of Tiffany and Justin Bieber soon. Mall-punk? Still not seeing the punk connection. Here is the announcement:

On Wednesday, August 25, Macy's and American Rag will unveil the limited edition "Mad Picks" capsule collection by Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden, available in select Macy's stores and on macys.com. As part of an exciting music program created by FILTER Creative Group and Macy's private brand American Rag, the "Mad Picks" capsule collection has a distinct rock-n-roll feel for the girl who loves to combine her love of music with fashion.

In addition to handpicking "Mad Picks" items from the American Rag fall collection, Benji and Joel Madden will be performing a series of five free concert events in Macy's stores across the country this fall in support of Good Charlotte's new album, Cardiology, out November 2. - more on this story

Julie Christmas Goes Solo As The Bad Wife
Julie Christmas has announced the release of her first solo record, The Bad Wife, which will be available on CD/LP and digital download via Rising Pulse Records on November 9th, 2010.

Often celebrated for her intense vocal acrobatics in heavy-hitting bands like Made Out of Babies, Battle of Mice and the supergroup Spylacopa (featuring members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Candiria and Isis), Christmas' solo debut finds her pushing the range of her already iconoclastic genre-melding work. Ahead of the album's release, the song "July 31st" is featured on the soundtrack for the Paramount movie, Wrong Turn at Tahoe, starring Harvey Keitel and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Of late, Christmas has been busy expanding her repertoire. She is currently is collaborating with Nix Turner, renowned illustrator of worldwide counterculture icon, Emily the Strange, to create a book titled The Scribbles and Scrapes of Amy Anyone: (A Multiple Personality Autobiography). Christmas wrote the story and is working on music for the release of an accompanying CD, featuring a tone signaling the reader to turn the page. - more on this story

Frontman Dani Filth called the album, "without doubt the fastest and most brutal album we've created to date."

"This album is Cradle at our most sinister and darkened fairytale," continues Dani. Carney Announce Pre Spider-Man Show
Carney have announced that they will perform a very special show at Piano's in New York City, giving fans a chance to see the band before frontman Reeve Carney takes the stage as the lead in the upcoming Broadway production of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark. The September 15th show will feature songs from Carney's debut album Mr. Green, Vol. 1, which was released in May on DAS Label/Interscope Records.

In its live review of Carney's May show at Piano's, the Sentimentalist wrote that the band "proved to be purveyors of an unpredictably broad, bold, kaleidoscopic sonic palette. Shades of '70s glimmer rock, '80s Sunset Strip decadence (and a bit of The Police), and boogie blues all coalesced to impressive heights," while calling Reeve "a born entertainer, whose elegant looks and soaring voice (think a note-perfect mixture of Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke with shades of Chris Cornell's higher range) would make anyone nervous."

Carney, comprised of Reeve (lead vocals/guitar), Zane Carney (guitar), Jon Epcar, (drums), and Aiden Moore (bass), are known for their incendiary live shows, selling out regular residencies at the El Rey Theatre and The Troubadour in Los Angeles. Named one of the hottest bands at Lollapalooza by Spin, the band has also won over crowds at Bonnaroo, San Diego Street Scene, and the Outside Lands Festival, with Entertainment Weekly naming Reeve "one of the 10 Rising Stars to watch in 2010." - more on this story

Gene Simmons Struck Out With Candye Kane
That headline get your attention? It's a true story and you can read all about below, but first the whole reason for that quote: Celebrated blues diva Candye Kane, recent cancer survivor and 2010 nominee for the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award, becomes the final name player added to the upcoming tribute album "Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks."

The voluptuous and curvaceous Candye appears courtesy of her size-positive original recording "You Need A Great Big Woman," as showcased on the Lifetime network and "The Maury Povich Show." This guitar-laden swing rocker features the incomparable Ms. Kane belting out the benefits of loving a large and luscious lady like herself. A sample of the song is now available at the official "Whole Lotta Love" MySpace page.

Candye is one of but few women on the roster, which consists largely of members of such hard rock bands as Quiet Riot, Cinderella, Twisted Sister, Danger Danger and L.A. Guns performing songs about plus-sized women like her. Despite her minimal association with the genre, she does recall an encounter she once had with Kiss bassist Gene Simmons (who has publicly acknowledged his own appreciation of full-bodied women). "Even though I'm honored to be included here, I'm not normally in the company of rockers," admits Kane. "I think the closest I got was back in the '80s when Gene Simmons hit on me! This was when I was recording my first album and he was producing some Japanese band (EZO) in the same studio. I turned him down, so I'm probably one of the few women who can say that! Back then I was more into country music so I said, 'Maybe if you were Dwight Yoakam!' I'm sure he wasn't accustomed to hearing that!" - more on this story
