Slash and Axl Offered Hundreds of Millions for Guns N' Roses Reunion
Not surprisingly, Slash has shot down the idea of reuniting the classic lineup of Guns N' Roses with Axl Rose. That's nothing new but what is new is that they have reportedly been offered "hundreds of millions" to reform, according to a report from Metro.co.uk.

Why Slash won't cash in on such a payday? The UK news site reports that Slash: told GQ magazine: "During that last tour it was like an ongoing exercise in how we could bond the least, it just got worse and worse."

The pair have not spoken for 13 years, but Slash said: "It got to a point off stage where it was impossible for us to even be in the same room together and create any music.

"So it's sad that something so good doesn't exist any more, even though we're both still alive and on the same planet. But that's all."

Steven Tyler Cancels Drug Addiction Benefit Appearance
The Concord Monitor had bad news for Aerosmith fans in the New Hampshire city, Steven Tyler has canceled a benefit appearance that was to take place there later this month.

Ironically the event was put together to "raised money to fight substance abuse among young people" and Tyler was forced to cancel because he is currently in rehab for pain management and addiction to prescription drugs.

But there is a chance that the show will be rescheduled once Tyler is back on the road to recovery. Kat Strange, communications director for Child and Family Services, a key sponsor of the show told the Concord Monitor, "Our agency and the people working with the artist's management all agree that we want to reschedule this date," Strange said yesterday. "Given the serious health concerns Mr. Tyler is facing, you just can't pick a day, but that's Plan A." - Read the Monitor report here for more details

OK Go WTF?
OK Go will perform on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" this Friday, January 8th. The appearance comes just prior to the January 12th release of the band's latest album, Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky.

The group has been busy developing videos to accompany each of the album's 13 tracks. With 175 million video streams and counting, OK Go is the most-downloaded band ever. The group created an international phenomenon in 2005 with its "A Million Ways" video, which simply featured the four members dancing in a backyard, and followed it with the decade's most-viewed music video, "Here It Goes Again," which was awarded a Grammy.

Working with friend and video director Tim Nackashi, OK Go has cooked up a color-drenched video for lead single "WTF?" using props purchased at the 99’ Only Store and the band's trademark single-shot approach. Fans can check out the "WTF?" video - here

Smile Empty Soul Release Free Nirvana Cover
During the recording sessions for their new album "Consciousness", which was released through F.O.F Label Group/EMI earlier this year, Smile Empty Soul recorded a cover of Nirvana's "Aneurysm". The track has never been released before and is now available as a FREE download here

"Nirvana was one of our biggest influences growing up," commented Smile Empty Soul's Sean Danielsen. "Nirvana was just one of those 'voice of a generation' type bands that we all loved, so we would cover this song live once in a while to do something cool for fans. We never planned on recording it, but when were in the studio making 'Consciousness' our manager said we should do a cover and this one immediately jumped out. We recorded it pretty true to the original and hopefully we did it justice."

Smile Empty Soul re-released their long lost sophomore album, "Anxiety", digitally only through ITunes and other digital retailers on November 10th. Anxiety's 17 tracks were originally recorded in 2005 as the follow-up to the group's gold certified 2003 self-titled debut. The album is currently on sale though iTunes for $9.99

The Dear & Departed Release New EP
The Dear & Departed's 5 song digital EP, Chapters, is available now. Produced by New Found Glory guitarist, Chad Gilbert, and engineered by Paul Miner (New Found Glory, H2O, Atreyu), Chapters offers "a fresh twist on a classic 80's English sound we all have a soft spot for," describes Gilbert.

Compared to their debut release, Something Quite Peculiar (2007), vocalist Dan Smith says, "recording this time felt more right than it ever has. There was no pressure, just excitement." Some of that excitement during the recording process was captured on TLC's hit show, LA Ink, on which Smith is a member of, having been a tattoo artist for over 7 years. Fans got a sneak peak into the recording when the show's star, Kat Von D, visited The Dear & Departed in the studio on the episode which aired in September.

Smith will be taking a short hiatus from the show while the band tours in support of the new album. The band - Smith (vocals), Cortney Miner (guitar), Darren Parkinson (guitar), Keath Moon (bass) and Jimmy Walsh (drums) - will share the stage with Alkaline Trio and Cursive in February and March, then with AFI in the UK for a string of dates in April. - more on this story
