Korn Krops Up In High Def
With a name like Korn this was inevitable: the band will be playing a special show inside of a Krop Kircle with the show being televised this weekend and hitting the web next week. Here is information:

Korn will perform for an hour and twenty minutes inside the mysterious crop circle that was recently revealed in the final installment of a viral web campaign. The band worked closely with longtime UK-based circle makers, circlemakers.org, on the shadowy design which features a series of intricate circles, one of which includes the iconic Korn logo, and stretches over 920 feet long and 350 feet wide.

The concert event, which is a first for a rock band, takes inspiration from the eerie atmosphere of Pink Floyd's legendary "Live at Pompei." The concert will make its North American broadcast premiere on HDNet on Sunday, July 11 at 8 PM ET and will have a worldwide online premiere on Monday, July 12 via MySpace in countries all over the world. - more on this story

Singled Out: Haste The Day's Travesty
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Dave Krysl and Scotty Whelan from Haste The Day tell us about "Travesty" from their brand new album "Attack of the Wolf King". We now turn it over to Dave and Scotty for the story:

Like most songs on Attack of the Wolf King, Travesty was written almost entirely on a computer. It started with the intro riff and a few others Scotty recorded on garageband during some time off, then when we all got together we picked it apart and the structure came together so fluidly. We would continue recording guitar parts for the song and then Giuseppe would program in some sick drum parts and really bring the song to life. This song was written fairly quickly and the more it came together, the more excited we got about how powerful and big the song was turning out to be. We all love it.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Lucky Peterson Takes On Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Ray LaMontagne, Robert Johnson and More
Dreyfus Records will release Lucky Peterson's new album, "You Can Always Turn Around", on September 28, 2010 which features Lucky's take on songs from Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Ray LaMontagne, Robert Johnson & Blind Willie McTell. Here is the background:

Lucky Peterson was discovered by blues legend Willie Dixon when he was three years old, released his first record at five and soon after appeared on The Tonight Show. Trained by keyboardists Bill Doggett and Jimmy Smith, Peterson went on to play behind Little Milton, Bobby "Blue" Bland and Kenny Neal. On return from the "Young Blues Giants" tour of Europe, he signed first with Alligator, then Verve, Blue Thumb and Birdology/Dreyfus, where he recorded what Amazon.com called "his finest album," Black Midnight Sun, in 2003. The New Yorker called him "a master of the guitar, organ and microphone."

But Lucky's journey was not a smooth one, and Peterson spent the next few years in transition, working to free himself of drug troubles that had affected his health, family life and professional life. He spent time in treatment, making one-off records for small European labels, but never a proper follow-up to Black Midnight Sun. - more on this story

Texas In July Hit The Road
Equal Vision Records has signed metalcore boyband Texas In July. There is no word on a new album from the group but they are touring all summer. Here is what the label sent over:

The band has already toured the country and back, sharing stages with everyone from The Devil Wears Prada and Every Time I Die to August Burns Red and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster - all before the entire band had graduated from high school.

With their two youngest members walking across the graduation stage this year, Texas In July are about to charge headfirst out of Ephrata, P.A. and into living out their dreams full-time. Balancing their sensitive expressions of faith with some of metalcore's most ferocious and in-your-face vocals and breakdowns, the band has already proven that they have what it takes to put small-town-Pennsylvania on the map. - more on this story
