Haste The Day Reunion Show To Be Filmed for DVD
Haste The Day will celebrate the release of their new CD, Attack of the Wolf King, with a hometown show on June 29th where they will be joined by past members of the band. Now the band is excited to announce that the one-of-a-kind show will be filmed for a future DVD release.

The one-time performance, being billed as 'Haste The Day vs Haste The Day' will feature all the former members of the band coming back to play the old favorites.

"This may turn out to be the best Haste The Day show that will ever happen," explains bassist Mike Murphy. "It's hard when band members grow older and no longer have the energy and passion to stay on the road. With HTD, our purpose has always been bigger than the individual members. We want to be be a voice to kids at shows, that they are loved and important. So, as members leave, they pass the torch to the newer guys, and the mission continues on. There are no hard feelings within the HTD camp and we are blessed that both versions of the band are essentially one big family. So, to bring those two groups together for one show just demonstrates the true purpose and unity of this band." - more on this story

Fans Demand Holiday For International Day of Slayer
Slayer fans worldwide will unite to celebrate the fourth International Day of Slayer (IDoS) this Sunday, June 6, and demand the official recognition of June 6 as a public holiday. Those who observe the holiday are encouraged to stage "Slay-outs:" "Listen to Slayer at full blast in your car, in your home, at your place of employment, and in any public place you prefer." Headphones are considered an offense to the movement.

When this crusade first launched four years ago on 06/06/06, it was in response to the American "National Day of Prayer," which is held on the first Thursday of May. Gaining momentum every year, the IDoS Board last year petitioned the White House for official recognition of the holiday, citing that "heavy metal music is the central belief of a culture that exists among us, and Slayer is the perfect spokesperson."

During a recent interview with AOL's NoiseCreep, Slayer's Kerry King said about the IDoS, "I think it's awesome, and it's totally cool that fans have taken the time to maintain it. Slayer should have a national holiday - there are enough stupid holidays out there, so why not have one for us?"

Dimmu Borgir Orchestra
Dimmu Borgir are apparently going orchestral with the announcement that they will collaborate with Norwegian composer and Berklee College of Music summa cum laude alumnus Gaute Storaas in addition to the 51 members of KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra) and the 38-member Schola Cantorum Choir for their as-yet-untitled new album.

To date, over 101 musicians have lent their talents to the making of the new release. Composer Gaute Storaas shares some insight on what it's like to work with Dimmu Borgir:

"There have been several attempts of dressing up rock bands in suits, bow ties, and symphonic splendor - to various degrees of success. Working with Dimmu Borgir is quite different. Their music is epic, thematic and symphonic already from the creation; they are clearly having an orchestral approach to composing. My role in this is sometimes just to transcribe their themes, sometimes to take their ideas, tear them apart and build them back up in ways that are true to the band's intentions. The music must also be both interesting and playable for the musicians, and hopefully, meet the quality standards of the orchestral world." - more on this story

Hatebreed, Down Supergroup Kingdom Of Sorrow Streaming New Album Online
Kingdom Of Sorrow, the metal project created by Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and Kirk Windstein (Down, Crowbar) are streaming their new album, "Behind The Blackest Tears," in its entirety on their MySpace page.

"Behind The Blackest Tears" will be released in the U.S. on June 8 via Relapse Records. The CD was recorded at Dexter Lab Recordings in Milford, Connecticut with engineer Nick Bellmore and was mixed and mastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris at Planet Z Recordings in Hadley, Massachusetts.

Commented Jasta: "I'm really excited about the Kingdom Of Sorrow album because I feel like I really went all out this time. I love the first album but I brought way better riffs to the table this time and really brought a different vocal style on a lot of tracks. I think this new album is much more memorable and that the songs are really catchy but still heavy and raw." - Myspace link

Singled Out: Black Sunshine's Burn to Shine (Filter/ Theory of a Deadman)
Black Sunshine released their self titled debut last week and to celebrate we asked the band's mastermind Matt Reardon to tell us about some of his favorite tracks from the album. Today he tells us about the song, "Burn to Shine". We now turn it over to Matt for the story:

"Burn to Shine" was written on my favorite beat up acoustic BB. I was playing around with tunings and dropped both the high and low e strings down a full step. Hit the d chord and it sounded really full and open. I could hear the whole chiming style line over the top in my head….I had visioned something sort of like the harmonics from Puddle Of Mudd's blurry song or something to that effect. To play the harmonics you have to down tune the e and b string a half step. There were some studio shenanigans that went into creating the chime effect but you can easily recreate it live. I'm a massive fan of Alice in Chains and I love the way they write lyrics with sort of a call and response style between Layne and Jerry. I always loved the line "Misery loves company" it's very true in many ways. That was how the song started out with one line. "Some times you've got to Burn to Shine" has been something I've kind of lived by….some of the best things people have accomplished in life have come from just saying f*** it and throwing caution to the wind…throw a big hale mary pass and see where it gets you. I had been in and out of hospitals for a few years off and on and was super determined to defy what all the doctors said was not possible. This song became my anthem. I was wound up pretty tight at the time and was maybe not making the best decisions in life "livin like a loaded gun" "rusted was my halo" it may sound cheesy but this tune sort of gave me some light at the end of the tunnel….that same light had been a train several times before. It's by far one of our best live tunes. Jamie Woolford came up with some amazing backing harmony vocals which make the chorus really stand out. There are quite a few guitar tracks in the chorus with a stand out octave line which sits really well with the melody. I blended a few things for the verse clean tones, an acoustic doubled, a simulated twelve string and a sample sitar sound. Marlette played the bass line and Mike Hill from the funk junkies absolutely crushed this track on drums.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!
