Jimmy Page Sued Over Zeppelin Classic

Jimmy Page is being sued over a classic Led Zeppelin hit. Our good friend Nightwatcher has the details in a new report: After over 40 years folk singer Jake Holmes is suing Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page for allegedly stealing the Zeppelin hit "Dazed and Confused" from him.

Holmes claims that he obtained a copyright for his song "Dazed and Confused" in 1967, two years before Led Zeppelin recorded their own "Dazed and Confused."

The Yardbirds, Page's previous band before Zeppelin used to perform a slightly different version as "I'm Confused", which Page adapted for the version included on 'Led Zeppelin', the band's first album in 1969. In 1967 Holmes opened up for The Yardbirds in New York, where Page heard the song. - more including an audio comparison of the two songs

Breaking Benjamin Sidelined By Health Issues But Are Not Breaking Up

Contrary to internet rumors, Breaking Benjamin are not breaking up. The band's mainman Benjamin Burnley took to the web to set the record straight with the following message:

Hey everyone, Benjamin here. I am officially letting everyone know that Breaking Benjamin has NOT broken up! This is just a false rumor that, through the miracle of modern technology, has unfortunately spread.

I am currently taking some time off from touring to further address some health issues that I have been dealing with for some years now which has been posted previously on the shallow bay website and expressed in many recent interviews. Disturbed Get High With Another Way To Die

Disturbed enjoy their highest chart debut at Active Rock radio with the No. 5 bow of "Another Way To Die," the new single from their upcoming album Asylum. Reprise Records will release Asylum on August 31st, 2010.

This is the best debut on the Active chart for any song since Linkin Park's "What I've Done" in April 2007 and is only the 15th song to debut in the Top Five since 1997. The track also debuted at No. 6 on the Mainstream Rock chart and was the No. 1 Most Added at Active and Modern Rock.

John Lennon Getting Remastered For His 70th birthday

In celebrations of John Lennon's 70th birthday, (on October 9) Yoko Ono is over seeing the John Lennon's "Gimme Some Truth" campaign. Here is the announcement:

The Campaign will launch on 4 October (5 October in North America) with the worldwide release of eight remastered studio albums and several newly-compiled titles.

Double Fantasy, 1980's GRAMMY Award winner for Album of the Year, will be presented in a newly remixed 'Stripped Down' version remixed and produced by Yoko Ono and Jack Douglas, co-producers of the original mix with John Lennon. Philip Anselmo Gets Down With The New Orleans Saints

Philip Anselmo is best known as the frontman for Pantera, Down and Superjoint Ritual. But he is also the founder of the Housecore Records label and more importantly a die hard New Orleans Saints fan. We received the following announcement which should be of interest to fans of both Anselmo and The Saints.

Anselmo returned to New Orleans Saints headquarters to interview tight end Jeremy Shockey, had a chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, and even tried on retired wide receiver/kick return specialist Michael "Beer Man" Lewis' Super Bowl ring. Lewis attended the same high school as ANSELMO, and is currently an ambassador for the Saints.

QOTSA, A Perfect Circle Offshoot Sweethead Announce Dates With Nico Vega and Scarlet Grey

Sweethead have announced new dates with Nico Vega and Scarlet Grey. Sweethead is the new group created by Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, Failure) and fronted by lead vocalist Serrina Sims.

They are touring in support of their debut album which hit stores last month on The End Records.

Sweethead also features Eddie Nappi on bass (Mark Lanegan Band, Handsome), and Norm Block on drums (Mark Lanegan Band, Plexi) and the band recently took up residency at LA's Spaceland before jetting to Europe and the UK for a series of festival performances and headline club dates. Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Adam Krier from AM Taxi tells us about "Fed Up" from their brand new album "We Don't Stand a Chance". We now turn it over to Adam for the story:

I was on the road for a few years before I came home and started AM Taxi. "Fed Up" and most of the other songs on our new cd, 'We Don't Stand a Chance,' were written about the people I met and the things I saw out on the road.

It seemed like everywhere I went, I met people that were trying to split town in hopes of something new or maybe just wishing for something more exciting. Most of them didn't even know what it was they wanted; they just knew they weren't happy standing still.

When I got home, I started to feel the same way and I noticed my friends were too. The main character is based on a few people but I think it's mostly based on a girl I hung out with right after high school. She wasn't about to settle for staying around town and waiting to see what would happen.

The music is influenced by "Born to Run" as well as 1980's American punk rock.

Def Leppard Release New Book

Def Leppard had the following news for their fans with week: Finally, after a long wait, we can now officially announce the release of the Standard Editions of the Shots From The Sparkle Tour coffee table books!

Available in two volumes, the books contain 80 pages of hundreds of photos taken by Ash Newell; volume 1 focuses on Def Leppard's 2008 UK tour, while volume 2 covers the band's 2009 rehearsals, Dublin show and highly successful headlining show at Donington's Download festival.

Whereas the previously available Deluxe editions were individually numbered (1-500), signed by the band (1-250), had a hardcover and were produced in strictly limited quantities, the Standard editions do not have limited availability, do not have a hardcover, and are not numbered or signed by the band. - more details here

Quiet Riot Stars Reunite To Tribute Fat Chicks

Quiet Riot's Frankie Banali and guitarist Alex Grossi are reuniting to cover Led Zeppelin's classic "Whole Lotta Love" for the upcoming tribute album "Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks."

"It was a lot of fun providing the drum track for 'Whole Lotta Love,'" comments Frankie Banali. "To bring some authenticity to this iconic song, I brought in a drum kit of the exact specs used on the original 'Led Zeppelin II' sessions, right down to the drumheads. While not copying beat for beat, I played drum parts that are in the spirit of the great John Henry Bonham."

"I was pretty excited to add my guitars to this song, especially after hearing Frankie's drums," continues Alex Grossi. "Overall, I'm glad to be a part of this project, paying tribute to fat chicks everywhere!" - more on this story

Far From Finished's New Album Is Forgettable

Far From Finished have set a July 27th release date for their ironically titled new album, Forgettable, through Old Shoe Records.

Vocalist Steve Neary explained the title, "…being cocky just never seemed to fit with this band. Forgettable is just that. It's an attempt to acknowledge and move on. Its a effort to Be happy." Spending the better part of a full calendar year refining the details, Far From Finished combined everything from a string quartet to a children's choir to craft their most ambitious collection of tracks to date. These seasoned songwriters combined unconventional instrumentation, a general disregard for expectation, and a well-rounded ear for a timeless tune, to prove once again, Far From Finished is so much more than punk.

With two studio releases under their belt, FFF's ability to harness a real sense of melody, meshed with an infectious delivery, has established the band as a true to form diamond in the rough. The band talked about how this go 'round musically would be received. "I think whenever you release anything there's gonna be that feeling inside you that maybe rejection's on the horizon, but honestly you can't think like that. Run With The Hunted Panic

Run With The Hunted are in the studio recording their debut album for Panic Records. With the heaviness and technicality of bands like Indecision and Turmoil intermixed with strong noisy flourishes akin to Botch and Catharsis. Lyrically, the band explores political and personal subject matter in equal parts but with the same introspective angle and emotional vulnerability Run with the Hunted have become known for.

Run With The Hunted are currently in the studio tracking their debut full-length with Cory Spotts at Blue Light Audio Media and will be their first release for Panic Records due out this Fall.

Another reason why this tour is sick is And Hell Followed With is joining us, they're the same age as us more or less and we've spoken to them and from what we can already tell it's gonna be a big party.

Infernaeon Going Soph

Infernaeon have finished recording their sophomore album and are aiming for a release later this summer.

The effort was recorded at the famed Stratosphere Sound in Chelsea. Brian Kahanek Goes Rock Band

Guitarist Brian Kahanek has signed a deal for three songs with Electric Flannel and the Rock Band Network.

The first song, Brian's hit single "Gemini" which was originally featured on the Guitar Hero II video game, will be joined by "Bottle Rocket" and "Fireflies" off the new release, One True Thing.

All of these tracks will be available on the Rock Band Network Music Store for Xbox 360 consoles later this year. - more on this story
