Black Sabbath's Earliest Recordings Posted Online
The Metal Den unearths what they report are the earliest known recordings from legendary English heavy metal act Black Sabbath, which includes two 1969 demo tracks "The Rebel" and "When I Came Down,
along with a live cut called "Early One Morning Blues".

The two demo tracks could have been credited to Earth since Sabbath's final gig as Earth was performed the day after recording "The Rebel", but these recordings are generally understood to indeed be the first ever by the legendary group.

Sabbath historian Rob Dwyer explains the history of the music: "'The Rebel' is without a doubt one of the most sought-after BLACK SABBATH songs ever recorded. Although a small fragment of this very un-SABBATH like song can be heard on 'The Black Sabbath Story Volume 1′ video, most fans have never heard this still-unreleased 1969 demo." - Read more and LISTEN here

Concrete Blonde Reunite For Bloodletting's 20th Anniversary Tour
Concrete Blonde will tour the US for the first time in 7 years with a set list celebrating the album and their career. Released in 1990, Bloodletting spawned the top 20 hit "Joey," as well as Concrete Blonde classics "Tomorrow, Wendy", "Caroline", and "The Sky Is a Poisonous Garden". It quickly became their most successful album.

Lead singer Johnette Napolitano explains how the tour came about: "People started emailing me and calling me up and telling me that it was the twentieth anniversary of Bloodletting, which had 'Joey' on it and was a big hit for us all over the world. My dad passed away recently and was a big fan of the band and it occurred to me that a twentieth anniversary's only going to happen once and that my dad would have said that it's a good idea and that we should do it. So we knocked it together and it looks like it's going to be fun, doing twenty-year-old vampire songs should be fun."

Concrete Blonde formed in Los Angeles in 1982 and became one of the most beloved alternative bands in the US. Characterized by Napolitano's inimitable voice, brutally honest lyrics, and the band's fearless sound that ranges from punk to ballads to Latin music, Concrete Blonde are true originals whose influence can be felt far and wide. Beyond Bloodletting, the band is responsible for classic alternative songs including "Still in Hollywood", "God is a Bullet", and their iconic cover of Leonard Cohen's "Everybody Knows". Don't miss your chance to see these legends live! - more on this story

Singled Out: Greene Reveal's Unravel Me
Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today we hear from emo / prog-rockers Greene Reveal. Singer/guitarist Shawn VanBrocklin tells us about "Unravel Me" from their brand new album "re(shape)," which is being released tomorrow . We now turn it over to Shawn for the story:

"Unravel Me" was one of the last songs to be written vocally and didn't really come to life until we actually started recording it.

With us, bass and drums are crucial to locking down the song. Tyler and Matt have a good groove together and they really helped trigger the mood for this song. Once the bass and drums were tracked, we really sat down and looked at what both guitars were doing to see if anything needed to be tweaked so everything flowed together.

We used to practice in Matt's basement, where we record, and it could get kind of tough to tell if what you're playing fit with what everyone else was playing. That was the case with this song. I remember having to rework my verse part because I based the mood of the song on my guitar part and how I heard it fit within the wall of sound down there.

There are times, when we're in the studio, where we'll tweak parts on the spot. This happens a lot with guitars just because we tend to have a little more freedom to change/spice things up. I think that's a great advantage to recording ourselves because I'd imagine not many people want to sit and listen to us just making noise. I remember us being able to take the bridge of this song to a new level just by messing around with our pedals. We made it sound really heavy by layering and dropping Shawn S's guitar an octave. It gave the song more balls.

When I was first trying to write lyrics and melodies to this song I just had it on repeat and I had this image in my head of running. The song gave me this feeling of fleeing. I had the chorus melody in my head first and then it was just a matter of writing a verse that flowed with it. Lyrically, the song is about taking an objective look at your life. I was in a rut and just wallowing in it. I knew I had to change but was scared because it was all I knew. "Unravel Me" is me giving myself the ultimatum of staying in a rut, wearing myself down, or getting out of it and knowing that everything will fall into place afterward.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album - right here!

Supergroup Witchery's New Album Packed With Special Guests
Witchery's line-up reads like the who's who of Swedish Metal: Jensen (guitars) plays with The Haunted; solo-guitarist Rickard Rimfält for Séance; bass player Sharlee D'Angelo is in charge of the deep end of Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars; while drummer Martin Axe hits the skins of Opeth and Bloodbath.

The upcoming album Witchkrieg, set for a June 29th North American release, features the debut of new vocalist Legion (ex-Marduk, ex-Devian) and an army of the best metal guitarists. The fretboard wizardry of Kerry King crowns "Witchkrieg," the opener and title track.

Guitar player Jensen had met Kerry in 1999 on the first U.S. tour of his band in Los Angeles after the WITCHERY show at The Whiskey. "He came on our bus and we partied all night long. We played air guitar while listening to old Rainbow records," Jensen remembers. "At the Roskilde Festival in Denmark I bumped into him again. I played him the song, he listened to it three times straight and said: 'Yeah, I'll do it.'

Crucifyre Pulverised
Pulverised Records is proud to welcome Stockholm, Sweden's Crucifyre to their prestigious underground roster. Formed in 2006, the band features the crushing lineup of vocalist Erik Tormentor Sahlström (General Surgery, Maze Of Torment, Serpent Obscene et al), guitarists TG (The Sun, Morbid) and Urban Skytt (Crematory, Regurgitate, Nasum), bassist Henrik Doltz Nilsson (Dobermann Cult) and drummer Yasin Hillborg (Afflicted).

Commented Hillborg of the signing: "Working with Pulverised feels great. It's like we've come home and have been given the chance to do what we do best: deliver auditory terror in the most evil and aggressive way."

Added Pulverised label manager Roy Yeo: "With present and past members from such highly respected bands, it is really interesting to see what these guys could come up with. I can only say that the debut album has exceeded my expectations! Crucifyre is exactly the kind of band that displayed the attitude of those early demo bands and with the integral nastiness that death metal should be known for."

Crucifyre's debut full-length will be released via Pulverised Records later this year. Further info to follow....

You Me At Six Going Soph
You Me At Six look set to cement their rise from underground heroes to mainstream success with the June 22nd release of their second album Hold Me Down via Virgin Records. Debuting at #5 in the UK, Hold Me Down is the follow up to their 2008 debut Take Off Your Colours.

Their propelling live performances at the Alternative Press Fall Ball Tour last year (with The Academy Is..., Mayday Parade, Set Your Goals and The Secret Handshake) and the August leg of Van's Warped Tour, demanded a return to the US this year to celebrate the release of Hold Me Down.

Hold Me Down finds the Surrey, UK quintet fulfilling their potential with a collection of soaring hooks and irresistible melodies. It captures You Me At Six's live exuberance with "Playing The Blame Game" breaching the gap between pop-punk energy and the snappy immediacy of new wave, while "Safer To Hate Her" alternates between a tender, melancholic riff and a fiercely defiant chorus. But Hold Me Down demonstrates that the band aren't reliant on pure energy as closing track "Fireworks" escalates from its initial reflective tone into a soaring conclusion. The album also highlights a guest appearance from Kids In Glass Houses vocalist Aled Phillips on "Trophy Eyes."
