Metallica Set DVD and Blu-Ray For Self-Release
Metallica fans will be getting an early Christmas present from the band as they have set a December 10, 2012 release date for their new "Quebec Magnetic" DVD and Blu-ray.

The band also announced that they will be releasing the effort under their own label. Here is what they had to say: "About a month ago we mentioned that we have a live DVD in the works to complete the Death Magnetic experience and leaned on you to help us decide which songs would be on the main disc. As promised, we're back now with more details on that DVD, Quebec Magnetic (!?!) which will find its way to your local retailer, online store, Metallica.com and favorite digital provider on December 10, 2012.

"This release is a first for us... yes boys and girls, the DVD and Blu-ray will be come out on our very own label in North America! There are still some i's being dotted and t's crossed, so we can't give you a name or fancy logo just yet, but we're pretty excited that for the first time we get to hold all the reins on a release from start to finish. Since we now get to call all the shots, the double DVD and single disc Blu-ray will be available for a price we thought was very Metallica fan friendly - suggested retail will be $15.98 for either format. more on this story

Flyleaf Singer Leaves Band
Flyleaf have lost their lead singer a week before their new album, New Horizons, is set for release on October 30th.

The band announced on Monday that they have parted ways with vocalist Lacey Sturm and that Kristen May (Vedera) will be handling lead vocal duties for future tour dates in support of the new album.

Bass player Pat Seals had this to say about Lacey's departure, "As Flyleaf begins this new cycle to introduce our third record New Horizons, we feel our fans should know that Lacey has stepped down as lead vocalist of the band. Her statement below expresses her reasons for leaving. In order to continue on with New Horizons, Sameer, Jared, James, and myself have selected Kristen May, formerly of Vedera, to assume lead vocal duties for future tour dates. We are excited for this new chapter in the history of Flyleaf, and hope that our fans will accompany us as we continue on this journey to bring hope and inspiration through our music. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years and we are looking forward to playing for you again soon."

Lacey had this to say, "I have been beyond blessed to be in Flyleaf for the past ten years, touring with 4 amazing men and the Flyleaf crew, whom I love like my flesh and blood family. They have all given so much. It took everyone on our team to make the beauty in Flyleaf possible. I am honored to have met so many wonderful people who love Flyleaf music all over the world. Your incredible stories continue to inspire me. I am very thankful to have recently become a mom to one of the greatest blessings of my life, my son Jack. You may have also heard that we recently lost our brilliant sound engineer, Rich Caldwell, in a devastating car accident. Now, more than ever, I understand the phrase Memento Mori. I understand that, for me, living life to the fullest in this season means to step down as the lead singer for Flyleaf. I wish the best to Jared, Pat, Sameer and James and I know that as I continue to pursue the highest heights of what I am created for, it will free them all to pursue that for themselves too. more

Queensryche Cancel Shows After New Singer Falls Ill
(Gibson) Queensryche have been forced to cancel two shows due to vocalist Todd La Torre's bout with sinus issues.

La Torre writes (in part): "Hello everyone. I am so very sorry that we had to cancel our show on the 20th (Lincoln City, OR). Trust me, nothing feels worse than knowing so many made travel arrangements, local, out of state, even out of the country to attend the two shows in Oregon. I have been fighting a horrible cold, sinus issues, etc. I have no throat pain of any kind, I just have a horrible head/sinus/chest cold. The immense travel I do coupled with extreme climate change can sometimes create these scenarios. I am only human, and it was a collective decision to cancel. I could not sing at all."

The band vows to make the shows up, but for now La Torre is confined to the house while he recuperates. more on this story

The band's official Facebook page made a post today in response to numerous fans complaining that the screenings have been playing the film far too quietly for their liking. It reads:

"We have been made aware that at some screenings of Celebration Day, there have been complaints that the sound is not loud enough. Omniverse, the film's distributors have been working with local cinema chains to ensure that this issue is addressed urgently. 'The Lost Broadcasts' DVD features various performances on German TV between 1968 and 1971. Glass Onyon sent over these details:

They were formed in 1965 by bassist-vocalist Chris "Ace" Kefford who was the original leader. However he was soon usurped by the multitalented guitarist, singer and songwriter Roy Wood who undoubtedly one of Rock music's true polymaths. He composed all the group's UK singles and, from 1968, also sang lead vocals on many songs, although Carl Wayne was the main lead singer up to 1970. Beside Wood and Kefford, the original five-piece line-up of The Move in 1965 was drummer Bev Bevan, bassist Kefford, vocalist Carl Wayne and guitarist Trevor Burton. Initially the band had 4 main vocalists (Wayne, Wood, Trevor Burton and Kefford). more on this story

Singled Out: Little Misses
Today Jerra Spence from LA punk rockers Little Misses tells us about the song "The Innocence Got Old" from their brand new album "Whatevers," which was just released. Here is the story:

They always say that the more personal a story is, the more universal it is – and in a way, I think that's why storytellers find a need to tell their stories. It's a chance to connect with people, to air the inner workings of one's mind.

"The Innocence Got Old" is about truth seeking and regret. It's about wanting to keep a part of you that's pure and innocent in order to live freely, but realizing that masking truth and hiding from hard realities can be more damaging than protecting.

When I first played this song for a friend, it was without any background. I feel that when you release a song, it's not supposed to be about you, it's supposed to be about the person who's listening. My friend immediately interpreted the song as a political piece. I like that. I think it's timely now especially. Let's not play the fool anymore, says the song. Let's be real here – we're not talking around sh*t anymore – I want to know what's the truth before I lose everything. I can see how this song feels political, because I definitely identify with that these days with the 2012 election upcoming.

But that's not what the song was originally about: My best friend from childhood got addicted to drugs when we became teenagers. I knew this, but we kept on like it was just a phase. Things like that, in suburbia, don't seem to have repercussions. We were in a beautiful, conservative beach town where everyone had a glazed smile. It was a waxy existence and we had no interest in turning rocks over to see the scum that lived under them.

It was the 90's, and we were into grunge music, metal, and punk. We were angry and felt guilty for being angry because our lives on the surface were shiny and perfect. We just wanted to be kids, but the problems we faced made us feel like we weren't kids. We felt bad about this. I feel this is common of girls today. Girls today feel conflicted about growing up and don't know how to talk to each other about personal issues. We are supposed to be innocent and golden and pure, and it's bullsh*t.

"If I could have…" – runs through my mind every day. I miss my friend more than anything. She died when we were 21 from a drug overdose. I stopped talking to her right before then in order to live my life away from drugs and drama. I was immersing myself in school as an escape and living in New York City. We had grown up together from preschool, and she was my best friend and like a sister to me.

Losing her, I lost everything. She was the only person I have endless childhood memories with and she is gone now. The innocence got old. It was a charade. We knew it. I live differently now. Seek the truth. You aren't too pure to handle it. It's the purest thing you can do.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
