Danzig is saying no to “corporate metal” and “rap-metal”. The former Misfits frontman is planning his very own festival as an answer to the more commercial friendly metal outings this summer.

The festival has been dubbed “The Blackest Of The Black” and promises, “The darkest, most extreme bands… all on one stage.”

Two dates have been laid out for the festival in Los Angeles and Phoenix. Thus far Danzig is set to headline and the festival will also feature sets from Superjoint Ritual and Nile.

Online metal news site, Blabbermouth, is reporting that Opeth and Meshuggah are also on tap for the mini-tour.

Blabbermouth also speculates that if these initial dates do well then Danzig will organize a full tour for the fall.

In related news, Prong’s Tommy Victor has officially joined Danzig according to the official Danzig website.

Here are the Blackest Of The Black dates:

5/02 – Phoenix, AZ - Mesa Ampitheatre
5/03 – Los Angeles, Ca - Universal Ampitheatre
