Joy Electric's Otherly Opus

03/26/07
.
(PR) Longtime Tooth & Nail signees Joy Electric has announced the title and track listing for its new album, The Otherly Opus, the fifth and final installment of the Legacy series of concept albums. “I wanted to do a concept record that was short,” says bandleader Ronnie Martin. “You think ‘concept’, you start thinking ten minute epics. I said, ‘no’ take all the ideas of that – the overblown vocals, the bombastic titles – then put it in short songs. I thought it was an interesting direction to take it.”

Those familiar with the earlier recordings of Joy Electric will be pleased with the first half of The Otherly Opus, a collection of songs Martin describes as “an escapist magical fantasy kind of thing, a little on the personal side… and it goes through these singular topics,” while the tracks on the final half “deal with the fall of Adam and Eve, that antediluvian period of biblical history,” explains Martin.
