God-Des & She Tell Us What's Killing Music

11/23/2009
.
God-Des & She are like strict parents. Or coaches. They only hurt your feelings because they love you. On their new single "Radio Up" they take the radio down a peg, but only because they care about it so much.

Over a grinding beat provided by Baltimore's Reina Williams, emcee God-Des spits fire about the downfall of the radio and the record industry as we once knew it.

"The music business is dying / cuz music is not providing/ emotion / it's missing/ lip synching... music is no longer human/ overproducing... Music Television doesn't play any music / auto-tune is tuning everything that we're doing / and we wonder why people don't buy music anymore / cuz we don't care who the song's by."

While God-Des & She sport an eclectic sound they are, at heart, a hip-hop group. And nowhere on their excellent third album Three are their hip-hop chops on display more than "Radio Up." It's apparent that the duo was on top of their game when laying down "Radio"- it's always easy to come out firing when the lyrics come from the heart. God-des' sentiments are easy for most anyone tired of more-of-the-same radio to relate to. "We need to bring substance and edge back to mainstream music. What the industry needs to realize is that people don't want 50 Cent's twin, they want to hear something new and outside their little box."

"I loved the idea of taking the concept of 'turn the radio up' and flipping it to explore why people are not turning their radios up. Hopefully "Radio Up" will make people want to blast their radios again!"

Watch out for God-des & She's third album, Three. Produced entirely by Brian Hardgroove of Public Enemy fame, the album will be released on December 3, 2009 via G&S Records.
