Imogen Heap Reaches Career High

09/03/2009
.
(PR) British singer-songwriter-producer and two time Grammy nominee Imogen Heap's third solo album Ellipse debuts at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, making this her first Top 5 record and her highest chart position ever.

Ellipse also comes in at #1 on the Internet Album Chart and #2 on the Digital Albums Chart. Additionally, with 48,025 units sold, this is the most units in one week she has ever scanned (prior to this her highest sales week was 7,200).

"First Train Home" the first single off Ellipse was USA Today's "Pick of the Week" earlier this summer and they said of the song, "…Heap offers a shimmering, percolating electro-pop soundscape that is grounded by her warm, breathy vocals", Wired Magazine calls it "…her densest, richest work yet" and The Wall Street Journal says "Ellipse is modern pop full of invention."

The same day Imogen wrapped up her tour in support of her last breakthrough album Speak For Yourself, she delved into the writing process for Ellipse’s thirteen tracks. Beginning in Hawaii and working her way through Fiji, Tasmania, Japan, China and Thailand, accompanied by only a small writing set up, Ellipse began to take shape. Imogen then returned home to continue work on the record and remained true to her do-it-yourself ethos, building her new studio in the "playroom" of her old family home (an 18th century 'oval villa' restored by her parents) on the outskirts of London.
