(PR) Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King (RCA), has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in June 2009, marking the band's fifth consecutive studio album to enter the chart in the top position - thus tying Dave Matthews Band with Metallica as the only two groups in chart history to have five consecutive studio albums bow at No. 1.

While in Southern California for two shows at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre (9/9 & 10) and a night at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine (9/13), the band will perform on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" (9/14) and "Ellen" (9/16).

Dave Matthews will be interviewed on "Tavis Smiley" on September 14th. The October 3rd season premiere of "Austin City Limits" will feature Dave Matthews Band - for further details, please check your local listings.

Dave Matthews Band has been selected as the official band of ESPN's college football coverage, from last week's kickoff to the conclusion of the BCS National Championship Game on ABC January 7th. The group has provided 10 songs - seven from Big Whiskey - to be utilized on game and studio telecasts across multiple platforms.

With Big Whiskey, Dave Matthews Band pays tribute to its late saxophonist, LeRoi Moore, who passed away after recording had commenced.
