Circa Now Announce Rooftop CD Release Event

04/13/2010
.
(Submitted News) On Saturday, May 8, Indie Rock trio Circa Now will celebrate the release of their new album, Hotter Than A Pistol, with a special CD release event on the rooftop of the 10th Avenue Theatre. Located amongst the skyscrapers of downtown San Diego, the panoramic view will be the perfect setting for a multi media rock 'n' roll show.

The concert's scenic location, The 10th Avenue Theatre is one of the premier venues in the burgeoning arts district of San Diego's East Village. In addition to Circa Now, the bill includes DJ's Artistic and Morgan Young, video art from AVicious, a fashion show from Jennafer Grace and an opening set from two time SDMA winners, Scarlet Symphony (Best Alternative Band/2008, Best Alternative Album, Foundation/ 2009), plus showings of trailers from Craig Rain Films with thier as yet untitled San Diego Indie scene concert film. It all adds up to a night of non-stop entertainment under the stars.

The event is being produced by Jon Block, creator of North Park's monthly Sight & Sound and many other San Diego music & arts experiences. "The band and I have been on the same page since day one - to present something exhilarating and unforgettable," Block says. "No one wanted to do the 'traditional' CD release show. There are more bands and bar venues in San Diego now than ever, which only raises the standards for people's time. We feel something like this deserves special event status."

For their latest musical project, the trio's frontman Josh Pann, along with bassist Scott Stover bass and drummer Justin Botello, has joined forces with producer Alan Sanderson (Rolling Stones / Weezer / Elvis Costello) resulting in an album that finally captures Circa Now's blistering live attack. Influenced by the likes of T.Rex, The Stooges, mid-seventies Stones and other groups with plenty of volume, raw power and swagger, Hotter Than A Pistol's nine songs deliver an adrenaline jolt of pure attitude. "These three have the right idea," Sanderson said. "If you're looking for raw energy in your music, this is it." With song titles like "100 Watts" and "Too Hot to Handle" on Hotter Than A Pistol, you really couldn't expect anything else. Play it loud.

$15. Admission price includes a copy of Hotter Than A Pistol.
