Gary Numan has told Rock Radio that Trent Reznor deliberately sabotaged Nine Inch Nails' Sonisphere show in 2009 – because he thought Metallica fans were going to give him a hard time. The inaugural festival at Knebworth, headlined by Metallica, was billed as NIN's last-ever live performance in the UK. The dirge-ridden set, which lacked any of the band's most popular tracks, disappointed the entire festival audience – especially NIN fans, who expected a grand farewell from Reznor and co.
