.
J-Roddy Walston And The Business have recently announced their signing to Fairfax/Vagrant. The group recorded at Sound City Studios last fall with producer Kevin Augunas (Jon Brion, Cold War Kids). The as-yet-untitled album will be released this spring. "Vagrant already feels like home to us," said drummer Steve Colmus. "We can't wait for people to hear the new record, and to just get out and play the living hell out of some shows. The Baltimore, Maryland-based five piece has toured numerous times with Vagrant labelmates The Hold Steady and Murder By Death. The band self-released their debut, Hail Mega Boys, in 2007 which prompted critics to say that J-Roddy Walston and The Business is the purest American rock-and-roll band Ive heard in years, (Flagpole) and sounds like a butcher version of Queen and Ben Folds with a full backing band and a fistful of Lexapro (WCPR). The quintets live show is an experience likened to a live bull fight, (Philly Style) and infectiously manic...they make James Brown look lazy, (Baltimore City Paper).
