The Revenge of Nycole Valentina

02/16/2010
.
Atlanta-based singer-songwriter and MySpace darling Nycole Valentina has inked a joint venture deal with Grammy-Nominated producer Armando Colon (Babyface, Lil Kim) and industry veteran Terrence Gittens (Backstreet Boys, N'Sync) as she prepares to release her new album, "The Revenge of Nycole Valentina."

Valentina is one of the south's hottest young talents, and super-producer Colon will be working with her on a unique production deal for his company, Launchcode Entertainment, while 1st And 10 Entertainment CEO Gittens brought the talented 19-year-old in on the label side when Colon played him some of her music. Valentina first came to mainstream attention in the summer of 2008 when she performed on MTV's TRL, but has earned herself a cult following on MySpace over the years as a result of dynamic performances, catchy songs and some clever marketing. Her debut album is an energetic blend of Pop, RnB and Club music, inspired by contemporaries like Madonna, Brandy, Lady Gaga and the late Michael Jackson. The theme of the record is built around a broken heart, but Valentina is quick to point out that the angst isn't fueled by just the emotional rage from a romantic break-up.

"It's really actually tied into my experiences with people in the industry, too" she says. "Bits and pieces of my personal life and the world in general find their way in, but I've been working to perfect this sort of sound since I was 8-years-old. The heartache, sweat and tears from years of competitions, good and bad relationships I've had and the belief in myself to succeed are what make this record. I have some feel-good, uplifting, edgy music and I think people will love it."

Nycole got her first taste of the recording industry at 12-years-old, cutting demos for Body Head Entertainment, a label owned by former world champion boxer, Roy Jones, Jr. Eventually she linked with Grammy-winning producers Shannon Sanders and Drew Ramsey (India.Arie, Heather Headley), and was driving to Nashville, TN every few weeks to record. Now situated with Colon and Gittens, Valentina's new single "Flatline" (produced by Colon) is set to hit the airwaves, with the album soon to follow. Credited as the lead writer on most of her songs, Nycole is in a unique position in the pop world: being able to tell her story to her listeners, first-hand.

"I want to make great music, better music, every day," she says. "I want to push myself to the breaking point, get comfortable there, and then push hard all over again. This is what I was born to do, and I am too close to finally making it happen to slow down. I want to give people a direct insight into my mind and how I feel when I'm writing a song. That is the essence of music, to connect, and this album is all about passion and revenge!"
