Gram Rabbit's Miracles & Metaphors Coming in October, Preview Action Starts This Week

07/19/2010
.
Gram Rabbit returns with the release of their new album Miracles & Metaphors on October 12 (Cobraside Distribution), faithfully evoking their desert scene roots and blending them into swirling psychedelia with beats that bump.

It's a fusion they've mastered over the course of three prior LPs, and forthcoming title track "Candy Flip," captures the collective essence and suggests an anthem in the making: "Party in the desert/ Everybody wants to party in the desert."

With a release date still a few months away, the now quartet is ready to screen their new material and what better avenue than L.A.'s beloved KCRW. The band will perform on "Morning Becomes Eclectic" Wednesday, July 21, then headline The Troubadour later that evening.

Rabbit fans rejoice: in case October is too long to wait, The Desert Sound EP will become available digitally that same day, July 21, to tide you over. Two new tracks, the above mentioned "Candy Flip" and "Falling Debris" will join b-side "Her Secret Power" and a remix of "Something Fuzzy" from 2007's RadioAngel and The RobotBeat, to comprise the four-song album.

In addition, any tickets purchased in advance of the Troubadour show will come with a complimentary download of the exclusive unreleased song, "Stars," to be made available day of show.

Founding members Jesika von Rabbit and Todd Rutherford emerged out of the Joshua Tree desert in 2004 with the now lauded, and possibly aptly-named, Music to Start a Cult To, and have since picked up a few additions to their live setting: guitarist and producer Ethan Allen and Hayden Scott on drums. Verbalizing how one can effortlessly meld spaghetti noir with relentless dance grooves deems challenging but that is in fact the band's unparalleled skill. The genre bending is simultaneously so unique and captivating, it's no wonder the word "cult" is often used when trying to find a worthy description of the loyal fan base, also lovingly dubbed The Royal Order of Rabbits.

"Gram Rabbit has carved out a Garbage-meets-Spaghetti Western pastiche that elevates high desert mysticism almost to the occult," opined the Los Angeles Times, while Time Out London cut to, "Think Portishead on horseback."

Going down the Rabbit hole has never been this fun.
