Stone Temple Pilots and Scott Weiland Didn't Record New Album Together

(Rock Radio) Stone Temple Pilots worked on their reunion album separately from singer Scott Weiland, bassist Robert DeLeo has revealed. While DeLeo was writing songs with his guitarist brother Dean and drummer Eric Kretz, Weiland recorded his vocal tracks in his own studio with the help of producer Don Was.But it wasn't an impossible situation for a band with a 23-year history, DeLeo tells Billboard.com. He says: "Scott wasn't there for the creation of these songs. We kind of guessed our way through it. It was challenging because we had to get as much done as we could to complete a song, but hold back because we had to see if it was in the right key and stuff like that. "The songs we sent over to Scott were pretty much in a completed form, with a scratchy melody, and he had the option to use the melody or not." - more on this story
