Conversation With Soulja Boy Today

10/29/2010
.
Soulja Boy will join The Wall Street Journal today for a discussion and live performance at their "WSJ Weekend Conversations" series at 10 a.m. ET at Lincoln Center.

WSJ Weekend Conversations is hosted by the Journal's Lee Hawkins each Friday at 10 a.m. ET from Lincoln Center in New York City and features interviews with artists, musicians, and other newsmakers in front of a live audience in the David Rubenstein Atrium on Broadway between 62nd and 63rd street. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Soulja Boy's "Crank That" was at No. 1 for seven weeks and has sold more than 10 million digital downloads and 12 million ringtones. His career began by using social media outlets, including SoundClick, Myspace and YouTube, to build a fan base, and, soon after, started his website, Tellem.tv, to give fans access to his music, pictures and videos.

Many reviewers credit him for spearheading a new trend in hip-hop and for integrating the many benefits of social media into an effective marketing strategy. His videos have more than 500 million views on YouTube, and he has 2.5 million Twitter followers. His new album, "The Deandre Way" will be released on November 30.
