(RockAAA) Machine Head main man Robb Flynn says his band launched a whole new metal sound when they combined harsh verses with melodic choruses and hooks and he reckons it also acted as the catalyst for a raft of copycat bands. And he has revealed other acts also copied the equipment Machine Head used on the road but despite this he says they have always taken steps to stay ahead of the pack.
In an interview with Radio Metal Flynn claims Machine Head define 'modern metal.' He said: "We pioneered that (combining harsh verses with melodic choruses). We were the first band to do that, and many bands have copied that. We're just doing our thing. If you go back to 'Burn My Eyes' and listen to the song 'Old', it's very heavy verses and a melodic chorus, so that was well before the other bands." more on this story
