Walter Rose Duets With Lucinda Williams

12/15/2011
.
Walter Rose has debuted his duet with Lucinda Williams, "Driving South," at the My Old Kentucky Blog.

"It's not every day you open a door and see someone like Lucinda Williams on the other side," exclaims Carmel, California-based Walter Rose about the final day of recording for his debut album Cast Your Stone, to be released on January 17th, 2012.

Williams duets with Rose on "Driving South," the latest track taken from the album, now streaming at My Old Kentucky Blog here. "This one just flowed out of me," Rose says of the song. "Every word just fell from the sky. I wish it happened more often!"

Eric Heywood, who was an original member of Son Volt and a Grammy-winner with Ray Lamontange, gives a remarkable Steel performance on the track. "To get to play live with just Eric and I in the room, and to have that moment of eye contact when he took the solo was amazing," Rose says. "Then I get to watch Lucinda sing on it and turn it into a duet. It's still a bit hard to believe."

Walter Rose's debut album Cast Your Stone, a dusty, worn-in collection of songs that American Songwriter Magazine says sound as if they "could have been released in 1975," will be released on January 17th, 2012.
