(Gibson) Journey are in the midst of a big summer tour, and they're trying to figure out the best way to incorporate their new songs with their back catalog of hits. The veteran rockers have just released a new studio album, Eclipse – their second with singer Arnel Pineda and are trekking the globe with Foreigner, Styx, Night Ranger, Kansas and others.
Guitarist Neal Schon recently told Ultimate Classic Rock about Journey's set list selection. "We have the greatest hits – we have to play that every night," he said. "We have all these great ballads, which have already proven themselves and people wanna hear every night, so I mean, where do we find room to stick more of this new stuff in our set, when we have an hour-and-a-half to play?
"I felt there were a lot of grooves that we were missing in our set; funky rock grooves and stuff like that, and I just felt ready for more [of] what I wanted to play on stage." more on this story
