Fugazi Reunion?
DiR reports: Punkbands ran the following report: According to the Fugazi Wikipedia* entry: As of July 23, 2007 the members of Fugazi have finalized a deal for a one-off show at Fort Reno Park in Washington, DC to take place Monday, September 3, 2007. This show coincides with the release of Glen Friedman's book as well as the 20th anniversary of Fugazi's first show. *Keep in mind that Wikipedia isn't exactly known for being factual.

[The venue website has nothing about this, but we did find an interesting article on DCist.com about another show on July 2nd at the venue which mentioned a reunion. But it would be hard to read into an article saying a reunion isn't likely to say that it is gonna happen on a specific date. We'll have to wait and see if it happens.

Here was the DCist mention "We're probably never gonna get a full-blown Fugazi reunion at Fort Reno, but tonight is the closest you could ask for. Tonight's show includes Ian MacKaye and Amy Farina's band The Evens along with Joe Lally."- DCist

New Order To Continue Sans Hook
antiMusic reports: New Order have announced that their now former bass player was a bit full of it when he announced during a radio interview that the band had split. Not so, says Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris.

Sumner and Morris were a bit surprised to learn via the interview that the band had split. According to the BBC, they issued a statement about Peter Hook's Xfm radio announcement. "We would have hoped he could have approached us personally first," they said.

"Whatever happens musically or otherwise, New Order have not split up, they continue to exist," they assured fans

Sgt Pepper Gets Cheap Tribute
antiMusic reports: Hello there ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to rock? May I introduce to you, the act you've known for all these years! That's right two music generations are about to collide when Cheap Trick and some friends will be playing the Beatles classic, Sgt Pepper, in it's entirety.

The event is set to take place at the Hollywood Bowl on August 10th and 11th to mark the 40th anniversary of the landmark album. Cheap Trick will be making a "special appearance" at the venue and will joined by Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Aimee Mann, Joan Osborne and other unannounced special guests. Will Beatle Paul show up?

Cheap Trick will also reportedly go beyond Pepper and include some additional covers of their favorite Beatles songs like "Magical Mystery Tour," "Norwegian Wood" and "Eleanor Rigby." While we're talking about honors it might be well to mention that the Illinois legislature is considering naming April 1st Cheap Trick day. That is not an April Fools joke. And it won't be a one off event, the bill calls for April 1st to forever be Cheap Trick day. The bill was referred to committee back in June so we'll see if they get off their legislative asses in time for next year.

His lawyer Peter Raymond said the advert does not use 50 Cent's name, but "the character is intended to be him". - more on this story

According to the group's Myspace, the current line-up now consists of Forrest in addition to Cory (guitar), Paul (guitar), Joe (drums), and Rob (bass).-

Slash Returns Stolen Guitar
Sleazeroxx.com reports: Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash showed his gratitude at a recent Hard Rock dedication ceremony honoring his music - by returning a guitar he stole from the organization.

The ex-Guns N' Roses rocker's career was celebrated at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on July 14, and Slash surprised officials by handing back a long-lost instrument he took without asking years before.

He says, "The guitar has the best story. I stole that from the Hard Rock in Orlando (in Florida). It was in the dressing room. I didn't know what it was doing there, so I took it.-

Original Sabbath Manager Don Arden Dies

Arden died on Saturday in Los Angeles. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon, and son, David. His wife, Hope, died in 1998.

Inane Lyrics Land Sum 41 in Trouble
Contact Music reports: Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley was threatened with deportation from the U.S. after a journalist took offence at negative lyrics he wrote about President George W. Bush. The Canadian rockers' song March of the Dogs contains the words: "The president of the United States of America is dead... And now the president's dead/ Because they blew off his head..." [such deep thinkers]

And one writer went to extreme lengths to have the band removed from the country over the controversial words - by calling on politicians to exercise their power against Sum 41.

Whibley explains, "He (the reporter) went to the House minority leader in the States (a Republican), who tried to have me deported, trying to say I'm threatening the president." [what no name for this reporter?]

Tupac Vs Death Row
PR reports: Lawyers for Amaru Entertainment and Afeni Shakur, co-administrator of the Tupac Shakur Estate, filed for an injunction against Death Row Records, Inc. and R. Todd Neilson, as Chapter 11 Trustee, to prohibit the inclusion of Tupac Shakur's unreleased tracks, compositions or sound recordings in the auction of Death Row Records. The adversary complaint was filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles today, July 20, 2007.

The injunction sought to restrain the sale of certain assets belonging to the Tupac Estate which are being touted as part of the Death Row Records bankruptcy assets. With closed bidding ending today, lawyers for the Tupac Estate sought full disclosure by the Bankruptcy Trustee's counsel that the unreleased master recordings in question were not part of the sale. In actuality, the recordings should have been turned over to the Tupac Shakur Estate in 1997, pursuant to a settlement agreement reached with Death Row Records.- more on this story

Beer Saves Band
PR reports: Late Friday night while driving to Calgary the members in National Product totaled their van. Luckily everyone in the band is fine. The following is written by singer Danny Casler:

Long story short, we were driving from an amazing show in Regina to Calgary . We started to smell brakes burning and assumed it was the semi truck in front of us. As we were coming down the hill going about 70+ mph our driver mentioned that he felt we were losing power and not more than 30 seconds after that our van slammed to the pavement and we started to fish-tale with a full trailer. Everybody was scared to death just from the slamming down. We thought our tire blew. That's when we looked out the window, still skidding 150 yards towards a revine/stream and light pole, and we saw OUR tire on FIRE rolling past us. We finally came to a stop and our breakwell completely burst into flames and the majority of the dudes took off. Our tour manager and I grabbed the cooler which contained melted ice, 5 Pabst Blue Ribbons and a bottle of water.- more on this story

Rapper Leaves Metal Tour
SMN reports: Brooklyn-based "death rapper" NECRO has issued the following update:

"I decided to leave the tour collectively with my manager and booking agent (both tour organizers) because we felt the tour's demographic was not receiving hip hop well. I was facing hostile, disrespectful crowds and was returning the same energy back ten-fold by being more aggressive than them. It was making a lot of people in the tour crew nervous and there was concern someone might get hurt (NOT ME). It was also being suggested that maybe I tone down my live show and not antagonize the already antagonistic crowd. I couldn't roll with that as it's not my style. I was holding back enough as it is but there is a line. All the bands on the tour loved us and everyone behind the scenes knew we displayed major heart and never once got phased by the hostility. We finished every show with middle fingers up and a big ‘f*** You' to the crowd.

I will make one thing clear for the haters: we NEVER got booed OFF the stage. Not once. Yes a ton of emo kids booed us at every show, but we had a twenty-five minute set every night and we stayed on stage for every minute of it, and we represented.

John Mayer Vs Drunk Kids
Launch reports: John Mayer has been blogging about the arrests made at his show in Pennsylvania at the weekend. Police arrested 63 people at the show at Hershey Park Pavilion on Saturday (July 21), 46 arrests were made for underage drinking.

In a message on his official blog, Mayer had a typically irreverent message for those arrested. "First, to the 46 people accused of underage drinking; what were you thinking? You have your whole life to engage in underage drinking. What's the hurry? I didn't start underage drinking until I was 26. Underage drinking is not an function of age, but of style. And you kids are way too young to truly appreciate the nuances of true underage drinking.

"Though the names of the arrested were not released to the public, I was able to obtain them by way of my well-placed source in the Hershey police department. Upon first glance, I find it interesting that of the 63 arrested, 55 were named Kyle.

Mondo Generator Drops Off Ozzfest

"It's very disappointing but Mondo Generator has been forced to cancel the remaining dates we have booked with Ozzfest and Circus Diablo. We tried everything in our power to make things work so that we could remain on tour, but unfortunately due to matters out of my control, it is impossible for us to continue touring at this time," says Oliveri."We're very sorry to all the fans that will not be able to see us on these remaining dates and promise that we will be back soon. We would like to thank Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, as well as the entire Ozzfest crew for giving us the chance to play Ozzfest 2007 .We'd also like to thank the fans that came out to show their support at the shows."- more on this story

Warped Founder Vs Ozzfest
DiR reports: Kansas City had an interesting story about Ozzfest coming to town. They focused on Sharon's Free fest idea and went to Ozzfest's leading competitor for an opinion on that. Here is part of their article: [Ozzfest is] obviously a good deal for fans who get free tickets. But some within the concert industry see this unprecedented move as a good business decision by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne just to keep Ozzfest afloat.

"It allowed Ozzy Osbourne to get one more paycheck out of (Ozzfest), to be 100 percent honest," said Kevin Lyman, organizer of the Warped tour. "Sharon's a smart person, but basically that's what it is. It's a ploy, straight up.

"Ozzy's getting paid to do that show. She was struggling to put (together a bill) because she keeps charging more and more and selling less and less tickets. The attendance of that tour has been dropping for many years, and she keeps having to spend more on the talent to get people to the shows."- They continue with the Ozzy side of the argument, read that here.

Beyonce Faceplant
DiR reports: "Beyonce Knowles made a dramatic misstep when she fell face-first down a flight of stairs during a concert," according to AP. Hecklerspray took the story a bit further and provided an eyewitness statement, plus news that Sony was doing its best to clear video footage of the faceplant off of the web.

Here is part of the Hecklerspray starting with the witness statement: "We saw that she was pumping her hair around and really into (it) with her trench coat and high heels and as she proceeded to come down the stairs, she tripped on her coat and it seems like she fell on her collarbone and face, sliding down about 12 stairs."

There are conflicting reports as to whether the singer was hurt or not - one claim is that blood was seen. Other claims have it Beyonce was completely protected in the fall by her robot-like outer shell which she replaced her skin with at the age of six. Yet other reports depict Knowles saving herself by wrapping her 15' lizard tongue around a light-rig real quick. Personally we believe the latter.

Whatever happened, we may never know for sure. Unless you watch it. Better click play - looks like Sony's smiting the footage from off the web.
