Sick Of It All Vs Boston Cops
NYC's hardcore pioneers Sick Of It All found that bringing their tough hardcore mentality (or, uh, shooting a promo video) to the streets of Boston, MA didn't go over too well with local authorities.

The group was on location filming a video for a track off their new album, Based On A True Story (April 20th release), with renowned local area directors Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci, but when cops tried to shut down the shoot tempers got a little heated.

It seems as if New Yorkers still aren't that welcome in Red Sox territory. More news to follow later this week, but for now view the new video trailer

She tells the NME: "I am not his spokesperson on Earth. I don't know what he'd be like now. He could be into society girls, or fat girls, or he could be homosexual. Black Flag Stars Reinterpret Themselves
Gimmie Gimmie Gimme: Reinterpreting Black Flag is not your typical tribute record. Instead of roping in fellow punk or hardcore bands to cover the influential punk group's most revered songs, the powers that be at CMH Records' The Secret Life of Records have opted to get members of Black Flag and their friends to flip their songs on their pretty little punk rock heads and give them the flavors of the 1950s and 1960s rock and roll, country, and even surf rock.

"These reinterpretations recall the sounds made popular by artists such as Johnny Cash, Pasty Cline, Roy Orbison, and Brenda Lee," says producer, Evan Taylor. "The goal of Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie was to create completely new interpretations of classic Black Flag songs while preserving the integrity of the original songs. The record was designed to appeal to a cross-over audience, offering Black Flag fans new takes on their favorite songs wile also giving an introduction to those with other tastes."

The six-song release also includes a cover of Jimmie Rodgers' "In the Jailhouse Now," which was hand-selected and sung by Black Flag's Keith Morris, and features Peter Case (Plimsouls) on vocals and Mike Watt (Minutemen) on bass. Other tracks feature other Black Flag members, such as Dez Cadena and Kira Roessler, as well as Blondie's Jimmy Destri, The Chapin Sisters, and Joe Baiza (Saccharine Trust).

Peter Frampton Releasing New Album Next Week and Hitting The Road With Yes Next Month
Peter Frampton returns this spring with Thank You Mr Churchill (A&M/New Door/UMe) on April 27, his most personal collection to date. This summer Frampton hits the road on a co-headlining tour with YES.

The 11-song set, co-produced and co-engineered by Frampton, features the legendary guitarist at his most incisive lyrically as he tackles the battles that wage within us and the outside forces that rage around us. His searing guitar work flows over every song, setting the mood. Nowhere is this clearer than on Churchill's centerpiece, the evocative, two-part, 8-minute instrumental, "Suite: Liberte."

"This album is very autobiographical," Frampton says. "It starts with my birth, which I thank Mr. Churchill for bringing my father back from the Second World War." - more on this story

Metalocalypse Creator Recording New Album With Gene Hoglan
Metalocalypse creator, Brendan Small revealed to Metal Injection that he is working on a musical side project with Gene Hoglan due out in the fall.

Here is what he had to say: "I'm finishing the season then I'm going into the studio and I'm finishing a solo record that me and Gene Hoglan, and the same Dethklok producer did, so if you like Dethklok, it'll be the same thing, and it'll come out this fall."

When asked if the tone of the record would be less silly he quipped back "It'll be as wise-assy as it needs to be but if you like the riff style, the double kicks, the Gene Hoglan playing, the guitar playing…the vocals will be a bit more melodic but still a heavy project" - Watch the full interview here

The Black Keys Star Produces The New Cadillac Sky Album
Critically acclaimed bluegrass band Cadillac Sky is poised for the release of their new album, Letters In The Deep, due out June 8 on Dualtone Records.

The album, produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, follows their 2008 effort, Gravity's Our Enemy, which earned wide praise from the Dallas Morning News, the Boston Herald and the Washington Post, which called it, "consistently virtuosic." The band is currently on tour in support of the new album.

Letters In The Deep finds Cadillac Sky embracing broader classical, rock and pop influences, while harkening back to the roots of traditional bluegrass—when albums were made with the players standing around a single mic. Lead singer/mandolin player Bryan Simpson explains, "These days, bluegrass is recorded in a separate room with people behind glass. And that's not the bluegrass that we love. The rawness is missing. We played all the songs just sitting around together, and at the core of every song is a truly live recording." - more on this story

Cage Replace Two Members
Founding bassist Mike Giordano and lead guitarist Anthony Wayne McGinnis have recently exited Cage after many years of true metal madness, with Mike departing due to medical reasons and Anthony for family reasons.

There are lots of great memories that we shared as we rocked around the world together. They will always be a part of who we are as a band and they both will be sorely missed. Category 5 Debut
Detroit based melodic rockers Category 5 have just released their debut Ep, 'Off The Ivory Coast' through Reel Time Records. The 5 song mini album is bookended by two in-your-face scorching rockers, "Lost In Legacy" and "7 Daze Warning" and filled out by the more mid tempo tracks, "Home Again", "I Wonder" and "Party If You Want To."

Hitting off with "Lost In Legacy" the track has a driving backbeat and kicks the Ep off in fine style. The mid tempo "Home Again" is the first song written by the band and showcases Perry Zaremba's powerful vocals, while "I Wonder" has a haunting melody and is a reflection of bass player George Koch's memories of his well respected mother.

"Party If You Want To" changes things up a bit, featuring a lighthearted groove and a sax piece played by special guest Dave Whitelaw. Finishing off the album is the high powered "7 Daze Warning" and is a tale of the beginnings of Category 5, similar to Boston's "Rock N' Roll Band" or Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar." - more on this story

Moogus Operandi
The Bob Moog Foundation is proud to announce Moogus Operandi, a concert event honoring the pioneering work and legacy of synthesizer maverick Robert Moog, to be held on May 27, 2010 at the Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina. The event will be a celebration of the Moog legacy through music, art and multimedia entertainment. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door the night of the event.

Northern California based synthesizer virtuoso Erik Norlander (ASIA featuring John Payne, Rocket Scientists, Lana Lane) will headline the evening, performing songs from his new album, The Galactic Collective. Norlander, an accomplished rock, electronic and symphonic keyboardist known for his command of vintage and cutting edge synthesizer technology alike will bring the Moog legacy alive with his synth-heavy instrumentals and his "Wall of Doom" modular synthesizer (so named by his roadies). The Wall of Doom, a massive analog modular synthesizer with restored 1967 Moog modules at its heart, will grace the stage of the Orange Peel as the musical and historical representation of Bob Moog's legacy of pushing the boundaries of sonic reality. This marks Norlander's first performance in Western North Carolina.

Norlander states "I have been a fan of the Moog instruments since I was kid, and I had the great privilege of knowing Bob Moog in his later years. Moog is, without a doubt, the most iconic name in synthesizers, and to many, the word Moog is synonymous with the word synthesizer. I am really looking forward to this stellar event for The Bob Moog Foundation in Asheville where we will celebrate the legacy of Bob Moog through music using his wonderful, timeless instruments." - more on this story
